DS's first vehicle as an independent brand, the large SUV has enjoyed some success and remains the best-selling car in the range in Europe with 8,361 units sold at the end of May 2024. After a major restyling in 2022, the DS 7 comes to the end of its career.
It is in 2025 that the replacement for the DS 7 will be presented by DS, a vehicle that will mark a new stage for the brand, since with the future DS 8, it will bring DS automobile into the world of 100% electric car brands. With this future DS 8, the second generation DS 7, currently known as the D 74, will share a number of elements, starting with the STLA Medium platform on which it will be built and the Melfi plant where it will be assembled.
This future DS 7 will therefore be a 100% electric vehicle and will offer a range of power outputs, from 210 bhp in the basic versions to almost 400 bhp in the most powerful versions. Like the future DS 8, this second generation DS 7 should offer a significantly increased autonomy, close to 700 kilometres, which is a great performance.
In terms of styling, the future DS 7 should also borrow some features from its big sister, the DS 8, notably a sharper, more incisive style and front and rear faces inspired by the DS E-Tense Performance concept, which announced the style of the brand's future vehicles for 2022. For the moment, there is no prototype on the road, so it is impossible to know what this future DS 7 will look like, but we can bet that it will grow slightly to exceed the 4m60 mark.
There is still little information about this future generation DS 7, which will be presented in just over a year's time, so we still have plenty of time to discover all its secrets. In any case, DS automobiles is counting heavily on this second generation to increase its sales after a first generation that was well received by the press and customers and which managed to carve out a place for itself in a difficult market segment. There is no doubt that the future DS 7, with its style and technologies, will have real qualities to be sufficiently armed to face the competition, which promises to be increasingly strong.
