Citroën C5 Aircross: Still the best-selling plug-in hybrid car in France

The Citroën C5 aircross plug-in hybrid has been the segment's sales leader in France since the start of 2023

Available in two versions, 180 and 225, the Citroën C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid has been leading the way in sales in France since the start of the year. A few days before the end of the first half, Citroën's large SUV remains firmly attached to its first position despite a somewhat weak month of May.

Thus, some 487 C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid (PHEV) were registered in the month of May, placing it in 5th position in this market segment with sales down 33%, which may explained by the closure of the Rennes plant for a week in April, which reduced production. Plug-in hybrid versions thus represent nearly 35% of total sales of the C5 Aircross in May.

Since the beginning of the year, the Citroën C5 Aircross PHEV has remained firmly in its place as sales leader with a total of 3,733 units, well ahead of the Peugeot 3008, second with 3,375 units and then the DS 7 which, with 2,711 units, is the leader of Premium models.

The plug-in hybrid versions of the C5 Aircross thus represent nearly 40% of total sales of the brand's large SUV, while they weigh only 23.13% of those of the Peugeot 3008, a sign that the hybrid engine is more accepted at Citroën customers despite the absence of a 300 horsepower version available on the 3008.

In conclusion, the C5 Aircross has every chance of ending the first half of the year in first position in sales of the plug-in hybrid segment, a good performance for the brand's large SUV which has never reached this position in the past and which shows that the brand still has the capacity to return to the fore, it proves it here with the C5 Aircross but also with the electric Berlingo so we will talk about it in the coming days.
