Citroën is taking a significant step in its expansion strategy in key markets. The brand with the chevrons officially announces the start of local assembly for its C4 X in Egypt. This production, carried out in addition to the existing manufacturing at the Madrid plant in Spain, marks a strong commitment from Citroën in this strategic territory. The announcement comes shortly after Citroën's dynamic and successful return to the Egyptian market, highlighted by strong commercial performance. With the launch of the C4 X, a model whose silhouette and characteristics appear particularly well-suited to local demand, Citroën aims to significantly strengthen its presence and increase its sales volumes in Egypt. This local assembly initiative is seen as a crucial lever to achieve these ambitious goals.
A model with international potential, targeting success in Egypt
The Citroën C4 X, with its distinctive silhouette blending coupé and SUV codes while offering the practicality of a sedan, has quickly found its place in several markets. While well-known in Europe, it has also achieved notable success in Turkey, where this type of vehicle is particularly appreciated. The C4 X regularly features in the Top 10 sales there, demonstrating its relevance for customers who favor versatile and spacious cars. Building on this observation, Citroën is actively targeting markets where this body style is popular, and Egypt fits perfectly into this approach. The brand returned to Egypt in 2020, through an exclusive partnership with the Kasrawy Group, and has since recorded very encouraging commercial results. The reception given to models already introduced has shown strong potential for the French brand. The launch of the C4 X, now locally assembled, builds on this positive momentum and aims to capture an even larger market share.

The "Made in Egypt" C4 X
The local assembly of the Citroën C4 X in Egypt is the result of a strategic collaboration between the Kasrawy Group, the brand's exclusive agent in the country, and Stellantis, Citroën's parent company. Production is carried out at the Arab American Vehicles (AAV) factory, affiliated with the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) in Cairo. This initiative actively supports the Egyptian government's strategy to localize the automotive industry, strengthen the local manufacturing sector, and improve the country's automotive ecosystem. The AAV plant assembles the C4 X in strict compliance with Stellantis' global quality standards, ensuring that the "Made in Egypt" models offer the same level of excellence as those produced elsewhere.
In Egypt, the locally assembled Citroën C4 X is offered in two trim levels to meet different customer expectations: the "Feel" trim, which is the entry-level version, and the "Shine" trim, a higher-end version including additional features and luxury elements such as a panoramic roof.
Under the bonnet, the Egyptian version of the C4 X is powered by the 1.2-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder PureTech petrol engine, well-known within the Stellantis group. This engine produces 130 horsepower and a maximum torque of 230 Nm, offering a good balance between performance and efficiency. This engine is paired with an AISIN 8-speed automatic transmission, recognized for its smoothness and fluidity, and traction is delivered to the front wheels. In terms of practicality, the C4 X benefits from a generous 510-liter boot, a major asset for families, and its fuel tank has a capacity of 50 liters.
The Kasrawy Group handles the exclusive distribution and after-sales service for the locally assembled Citroën C4 X, offering a warranty of 5 years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first. Regarding pricing, the Feel trim is offered at 1,289,000 EGP, while the Shine trim is priced at 1,449,000 EGP. (For reference, and subject to current exchange rate fluctuations, this represents approximately €24,300 for the Feel version and €27,300 for the Shine version, based on the early 2025 exchange rate).
This important step has elicited positive reactions from the involved parties.
Engineer Mostafa Hussein, Vice Chairman of Kasrawy Group's Automotive Sector, stated: "We are proud that the Citroën C4X is now being manufactured by Egyptian hands. This achievement reflects the confidence in the Egyptian market and supports our goals of local expansion and providing quality vehicles and local support. Our partnership with Stellantis is always intended to mean customer comfort through the provision of new vehicles, utilizing the technology of the Arab Organization for Industrialization factories, along with more competitive prices and the best after-sales and maintenance services. The C4X is ready to open an important chapter in the Egyptian automotive industry, a chapter where global brands partner with local champions to offer customers 'Made in Egypt' cars."
Furthermore, Hisham Hosny, CEO of Stellantis Egypt, emphasized: "The launch of the locally assembled Citroën C4X in Egypt is a strategic decision that places the customer's interest first. Local manufacturing not only provides a more competitive and stable price against market fluctuations but also ensures faster and more efficient availability of spare parts, as well as more effective and extensive after-sales service within the Kasrawy Group. This project reflects the commitment of the Stellantis Group to support the national industry and provide vehicles that meet the needs of the Egyptian market, both in terms of road performance and air conditioning efficiency. We are also confident that local assembly will contribute to reducing waiting times and increasing responsiveness to growing demand, making the experience of owning the Citroën C4X smoother and more serene for our customers in Egypt."
The local assembly of the Citroën C4 X in Egypt provides a major strategic advantage: it allows the brand to circumvent the often-high customs duties and import taxes that apply to fully imported vehicles. This significant reduction in structural costs directly impacts the final selling price of the car, making it much more affordable and competitive in the Egyptian market. By offering the C4 X at more accessible prices, Citroën hopes it will achieve success comparable to that seen in Turkey, a market with similar characteristics in terms of customer preferences for this segment.
This initiative also embodies and amplifies the excellent performance recorded by Citroën in Egypt since its return in 2020 under the impetus of the Kasrawy Group. The latter, by taking over the dealership in May 2019, revitalized the brand through a strategy combining the launch of new models, an aggressive pricing policy, and improved after-sales services. The success was immediate and spectacular: in 2020, the Kasrawy Group achieved the strongest sales growth for Citroën globally (excluding France), with a 166% increase in market share and approximately 5,300 cars sold. This performance, in a year marked by the pandemic, proved the immense potential of the Egyptian market for Citroën.
The local assembly of the C4 X is thus part of the continuation of this positive dynamic. By making this attractive model more accessible and reducing delivery times through local production, Citroën is empowering itself to accelerate its growth and solidify its position as a challenger in the Egyptian market. This is very positive news, both for the brand, its local partners, and especially for Egyptian customers who will benefit from an enriched and more competitive offering.
