Last September, Citroën announced its intention to enter the motorhome market with a range aptly named Holidays. Unveiled at the end of last year, the Citroën Holidays is now on sale in France.e.
A first for Stellantis
With the launch of Holidays, Citroën marks a first for the Stellantis group, as the brand will sell this new camper van directly within its network, making life easier for customers who will no longer have to juggle different suppliers to equip their van. By entering the camper van segment, which has been booming in Europe for several years, the brand is also demonstrating its commitment to providing families with a mobility offer that meets their needs and desires.
Now that Citroën is number two on the European camper van market, it wants to go one step further and offer customers the opportunity to order their Holidays camper van through its extensive network as easily as if they were ordering a new C3 or C5.
Competitive prices
As a new entrant in this market segment, Citroën will have to face competition that has increased in recent years with Renault and Ford trying to find a place alongside the Volkswagen California and Mercedes Marco Polo.
Equipped with two BlueHDi thermal engines, the Citroën Holidays has a mechanical gearbox for the 145 bhp version and an EAT8 automatic gearbox for the 180 bhp version. Two trim levels are available, Holidays and Holidays Pack Max, which is intended to be the high-end version of the brand's new motorhome.
Prices are as follows:
Holidays BlueHDi 145 BVM6: €53,490 including VAT
Holidays BlueHDi 180 EAT8: €56,490 incl. VAT
Holidays Pack Max BlueHDi 145 BVM6: €60.890 incl. VAT
Holidays Pack Max BlueHDi 180 EAT8: €63,890 incl. VAT
In line with the brand's strategy of making the car accessible, the price of the Citroën Holidays is well positioned compared to its direct competitors, namely the Renault Spacenomad (from €61,900) or the Ford Transit Nugget (from €54,500), and well below the Volkswagen and Mercedes offerings. However, the Citroën Holidays has standard equipment including dual-zone automatic air conditioning and additional rear air conditioning, a 10-inch digital instrument panel and a 10-inch multimedia screen also or more heated and rotating front seats.
Finally, with a length of less than 5 metres and a height of less than 2 metres, the Citroën Holidays allows customers to benefit from access to underground car parks and beach car parks, but also from light vehicle tariffs at tolls in France, which is appreciable especially as the Holidays are exempt from the ecological penalty.
In conclusion, Citroën's entry into the motorhome market with the Holidays is a great opportunity for the brand to take advantage of an evolving segment, while ensuring that the network can attract new customers. The brand also offers customers accessible prices, while making it easier for them to purchase thanks to the vast network of dealers who will all offer the order of a Holidays, allowing the brand to make a remarkable entry into this market, with a strong good position in campers, acquired thanks to the SpaceTourer derivatives in recent years.
