The Turkish market has confirmed its status as a strategic pillar for Citroën's international expansion. While the local automotive sector displays exceptional dynamism, the French brand is leveraging this momentum with a clear ambition: to exceed 70,000 annual sales. Thanks to a remarkable October and a lineup perfectly tailored to local expectations, this goal appears more attainable than ever.
In recent years, Turkey has evolved into a highly strategic territory for Citroën. Far from being a secondary market, it now represents a crucial sales volume for the manufacturer, which relies heavily on the country to boost its international presence outside Europe. The ambition is bold: to achieve a record-breaking year with over 70,000 units sold by the end of 2025. To achieve this, the brand is capitalizing on strong commercial momentum, illustrated by an excellent October performance that propelled it to 7th place in the market, driven by the enduring success of the Citroën C4 X.
October 2025: outperforming the market
October 2025 will go down in history for the Turkish automotive sector. With an overall increase of +19.4%, the market absorbed 116,149 registrations, setting a new record for the month of October. Within this thriving context, Citroën managed to stand out with particular vigor, posting growth well above the national average.
The brand recorded a spectacular increase of +43.3%, totaling 6,581 units sold during the month. This performance allowed Citroën to capture a significant 5.7% market share and comfortably secure the 7th position in the manufacturers' rankings. Within the Stellantis group, Citroën asserted itself as the third-strongest force in Turkey, ranking behind the leaders Fiat and Opel, but moving ahead of Peugeot for the period.
The driving force behind this growth remains the Citroën C4 X. This model, blending fastback and SUV design cues, perfectly meets the preferences of Turkish customers who favor sedan-style bodies. In October, the C4 X ranked 9th in the overall market with 2,109 units, posting a 42.8% increase. It captured a 2.3% market share on its own and stands as the second best-selling Stellantis vehicle in the country, just behind the Fiat Egea sedan.
Simultaneously, October marked a significant step in the lineup renewal with the ramping up of the C3 Aircross. The compact SUV made a stunning entry into the charts, taking 27th place with 1,059 units sold. It is already positioning itself within a few units of established competitors like the Opel Frontera and the Renault Duster—a promising start that bodes well for the brand’s volumes in the coming months.
Year-to-date: a million-unit market and C4 X leadership
Analysis of the cumulative figures for the first ten months of the year confirms the sector's excellent health. For the first time in history, the Turkish market crossed the symbolic threshold of one million units (1,043,796 to be exact) in just ten months, representing a 10.2% growth compared to the previous year. This economic vitality provides fertile ground for Citroën, which has managed to maintain a growth rate superior to that of the market.
Since the beginning of the year, Citroën has posted a +13.3% increase, with a total of 53,040 passenger vehicles registered, securing a 5.1% market share and 9th place overall. It is worth noting that this performance was achieved even though the new generations of C3 and C3 Aircross only entered the market during the second quarter. These key models have not yet delivered their full annual potential, making the overall performance even more commendable.
Citroën's success over these ten months relies mainly on the commercial strength of the C4 X. It stands as the brand's best-seller with 17,799 units sold since January, recording a 32.5% increase. This commercial success translates into a significant gain in standing: the C4 X has climbed to 9th place in model sales, gaining three spots compared to 2024. This market share gain proves that the model's styling and positioning are particularly appreciated by Turkish drivers.
On track for a historic record
As we review the provisional results at the end of October, all indicators are positive. With a total cumulative volume of slightly over 59,000 units (reflecting the brand's total activity), Citroën is in a prime position to reach its ambitious target of 70,000 sales for the year 2025. If this trend continues through November and December, it would constitute an absolute sales record for the brand in the country.
This positive momentum is the result of a coherent product strategy. The performance is driven not only by the arrival of the new C3 and C3 Aircross, which will continue to boost volumes, but also and primarily thanks to the C4 X. More than ever, this elevated sedan is asserting itself as a genuine commercial success, consolidating Turkey's status as a key growth market for Citroën.
