The last two years have shown the importance of logistics in car distribution, where shortages of delivery drivers or logistical difficulties have caused enormous damage, particularly to the Stellantis group. Aware of the strategic importance of this essential element of distribution, Stellantis is negotiating to acquire a majority stake in the 2L Logistics group.
Stellantis and 2L Logistics, one of the leading providers of transport services and automotive logistics in France, announced today that they have entered into exclusive negotiations for Stellantis to acquire a majority stake in the capital of 2L Logistics.
The transport and logistics sector has undergone significant changes in recent years due to the numerous challenges posed by the COVID 19 pandemic, the semiconductor crisis and the evolving global geopolitical situation.
The merger of Stellantis and 2L Logistics will create a competitive partnership. This partnership will provide Stellantis with additional capacity and flexibility to improve customer satisfaction. It will allow the 2L Logistics Group to continue its development while continuing to serve its current historical customers. Created in 2012, 2L Logistics is one of the main players in automotive logistics, with more than 300 car carrier convoys and 12,000 storage spaces.
The proposed transaction is subject to customary conditions, in particular the information and consultation of works councils and the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
