Sales figures for the main European countries have all been published, providing an initial analysis of the performance of Stellantis' markets and brands on the continent for this third month of the year. The seven countries analysed here represent approximately 80% of the total European market, providing a fairly reliable perspective on sales performance.[Analysis] March 2025 Review - Main Markets in Europe
After a negative first two months of the year, the market seems to have recovered in March, thanks in particular to the performance of the United Kingdom, where sales are rising sharply, and Spain, which is clearly in a good position at the start of the year. This is helping to offset the losses suffered in France in particular, where the decline was most pronounced. Overall, the market rebounded by almost 3%, ending several months of consecutive declines.

This is another cold shower for Citroën in March, which saw a sharp drop in sales for two main reasons: firstly, the absence of the C3 Aircross, which accounted for almost 20% of its sales in Europe in March, and secondly, production problems with the electric version of the C3, which reduced deliveries. Apart from Citroën, DS sales continue to decline with a further significant drop, while Opel and Fiat have reduced their losses compared to previous months.

Citroën has returned to the level of Peugeot in terms of its share of sales in France, but we can see how important Italy is for the brand, accounting for almost 21% of its sales, as well as Germany, which, despite the significant decline in March, which should be taken into account in view of the doubling of Citroën's sales in this country by March 2024, accounts for almost 15% of Citroën's sales. The brand's main challenge is the UK, which accounts for less than 8% of Citroën's sales, while the latter represents 31.85% of sales in Europe. Elsewhere, we can see Fiat's dependence on Italy, which accounts for more than 57% of its sales, while Opel is more British than German.
The final figures will be published within a week, allowing us to assess the full performance of the market and of Citroën. The latter is expected to fall below the 3% market share mark. It's high time to start delivering the C3 Aircross, even if the delivery times, especially for the hybrid version, seem particularly long. We'll keep an eye on them.
As a reminder, here is the performance of each brand in each of the markets covered:
