Citroën and television or cinema is a long love story that has lasted for a very long time. From the Traction to the Corniaud 2Cv via the Fantomas DS, many Citroëns have played leading roles. The brand continues this story by equipping a successful series in Switzerland, the new season of which was launched at the end of October.
Since Sunday October 30, 2022, SRF 1 has been broadcasting the new series in six episodes from Basel "Die Beschatter", a series where we follow an ex-cop who creates an improvised detective school.
Ex-cop Leo Brand founds a school for future detectives due to financial difficulties. In order to get the most out of the school, its amateur beginners solve real cases. Neglected Agotha (Meryl Marty) quickly blossoms from a sore neck to bankruptcy to become Leo's favorite student. She wants to become a detective to find her missing mother. But this search threatens to uncover a terrible secret from Leo's police past. Other roles include Martin Rapold, Esther Gemsch, Martin Vischer, Dardan Sadik and Martin Butzke.
The new Basel series is a detective comedy with a dark thriller simmering in the background. This false bottom inspired director Michael Steiner to make a series for the first time. His extensive experience from the youth comedy "Mein Name ist Eugen" to the business thriller "Grounding" via the horror film "Sennentuntschi" allows him to easily switch from one genre to another.
The SRF series is a story of belonging, family, distrust and loyalty. It comes from best-selling author Simone Schmid and director Francesco Rizzi. Simone Schmid gained her first series experience as co-writer of the SRF series "Der Bestatter" and made her breakthrough on the big screen with the cinema hit "Zwingli". In the "Writers Room", André Küttel, author of "Platzspitzbaby" and ghostwriter for Michael Elsener, Susanne Kunz and Massimo Rocchi, brought the essential pinch of humor. Crime perpetrator Christine Brand supported the team with her expertise for exciting cases. Zurich-based company Turnus Film produced the series under the direction of Anita Wasser and Michael Steiger for Swiss broadcaster SRF.
Citroën Switzerland is proud to be able to supply vehicles for this highlight of the series, the brand supplied the hero's car, a C5 2 station wagon, as well as C5 Aircross, C3 and SpaceTourer for other roles. With this partnership, Citroën ensures good visibility for its models on television and continues its long love story that began a long time ago.
