Since 2018, the Citroën Berlingo has been offered in Europe in a five-seater M and XL (up to 7 seats) version, but this latter version has not been offered in Japan, despite the Berlingo's popularity with the brand's Japanese customers . Citroën is now correcting this error, as the brand has just formalised the launch of this new XL version, making the Berlingo even more the car of choice for Japanese families.
Citroën is therefore developing the Berlingo range in Japan with the launch of the 7-seater version, which is already on sale throughout the brand's network in Japan. Since its launch in Japan in October 2020, the Citroën Berlingo has been the brand's best-selling model, accounting for around half of sales. The Berlingo's unique style, excellent space, handling and comfort have won it the support of a wide range of people as a partner for family, leisure and work.
With an overall length of over 4.7 metres, the Berlingo xl, known as the Berlingo Long in Japan, offers enough space for adults to relax, thanks to the ability to slide the third-row seats forward and backwards, and generous headroom. For this new version, Citroën uses the same 130 bhp Blue HDI engine as for the short version, still mated to the EAT8 automatic gearbox. This engine-gearbox combination
offers performance not expected from a diesel engine, high torque from low revs and is environmentally friendly thanks to the exhaust gas treatment system that gives the Berlingo a very satisfactory environmental performance.
The Berlingo Long is offered in two trim levels (Shine and Shine Pack) with basic equipment similar to the Shine trim level of the Berlingo Short. Also available is the Shine XTR Pack, which includes 17-inch wheels and tyres, front and rear bumper mouldings, matt orange paint pack and front door badges, exclusive seat pattern, exclusive dashboard and door trim paint. Both versions of the BERLINGO LONG are also equipped with Park Assist, which allows the vehicle to park itself.v
The Citroën Berlingo Long is offered in 3 colours for the Shine Pack XTR finish (White, Artense Grey and Platinium Grey), while the Shine finish without the XTR pack adds Deep Blue. Prices for this new version are as follows
Berlingo Long Shine: 4,433,000 yen or €31,350
Berlingo Long Shine Pack XTR: 4,554,000 Yen or €32,150
To celebrate the launch of the Berlingo Long, Citroën is organizing a new event from February 3 to 5 in Tokyo in a public square located on Green Springs Tachikawa. This event will allow the Berlingo Long to make its first public appearance but also allow the brand to exhibit its entire range from the restyled C3 Aircross to the new C5 X, including the restyled C5 Aircross which went on sale very recently.
