Citroën C4: production up again

La Citroën C4 sur les chaînes de l'usine de Madrid

A few weeks ago, I told you that the Stellantis plant in Madrid was preparing to reduce production of the Citroën C4 and C4X by closing the afternoon shift a few days after the night shift. However, this situation, linked to a drop in demand, could only be temporary as the afternoon shift is already scheduled to return.

The Stellantis factory in Madrid has stopped the afternoon shift on March 25th and will resume this shift on May 6th as planned. This temporary measure will allow the Madrid factory to operate with two shifts per day, while awaiting the potential return of a third shift, which the factory hopes to have back by the end of the year.

The management of the Madrid factory is certain that a night production team will be found from October onwards, based on the situation of the automobile markets where the Citroën C4 and C4X are sold. The restyled versions will enter production on that date, resulting in increased production for versions that are expected to boost sales of the brand's compact sedan.

The Madrid factory will manufacture approximately 94,000 units of C4 and C4X throughout 2023 with the return of the afternoon shift. Although this figure is lower than that of 2022 due to the shutdown of both afternoon and night production shifts, the introduction of the 100 and 136 hybrid versions, as well as the upcoming restyled versions, is expected to boost sales of the C4 and C4X, thereby increasing production at the factory.
