The Citroën C5 Aircross concept presented in 2024

Citroën caused a sensation at the last Paris Motor Show by unveiling a concept car that closely resembled the next generation of the C5 Aircross. Initially expected to be unveiled in June 2025, Citroën's compact SUV will finally be unveiled on 29 April, taking everyone by surprise.

A Citroën C5 Aircross revealed in one month

While rumours suggested that an announcement would be made in June, Citroën has officially confirmed a much closer presentation. In exactly one month's time, on 29 April, the French brand will officially unveil the second generation of its C5 Aircross. This unveiling will take place the day after an event celebrating the 100th anniversary of André Citroën's lighting of the Eiffel Tower, a symbolic moment for the French brand.

The first images of the concept car, unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last October, gave a very close glimpse of the production model. The future C5 Aircross will retain the strong lines of the concept, while toning down certain exaggerated elements, such as the extreme finesse of the headlights or the proportions of certain parts of the body.

Produced at the Rennes-La Janais plant, this new generation will benefit from a design that is both bold and modern, faithful to the stylistic identity inspired by Pierre Leclercq, Citroën Design Director from 2018.

A bold and innovative interior

While the exterior is already largely known, the interior of the new Citroën C5 Aircross remains a mystery. However, a few clues point to an original and decidedly Citroën approach.

According to some leaks, the French SUV will have a spectacular central display to show off the technology. The choice of materials will also be surprising. With a textile covering on the lower part of the dashboard, reminiscent of the Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross, the future C5 Aircross will remain true to the brand's warm and innovative spirit.

Technically, the new C5 Aircross will debut on the new STLA Medium platform launched on the Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland. This modern platform will allow the Citroën SUV to offer a variety of hybrid and electric powertrains:

Technically, the new C5 Aircross will be based on the same platform as the Opel Grandland and Peugeot 3008. This modern foundation should allow the Citroën SUV to offer a variety of hybrid and electric powertrains:

  • 145 hp 48V mild hybrid (MHEV),

  • 195 hp plug-in hybrid (PHEV),

  • a fully electric version with a 73 kWh battery for 210 hp

Citroën will position itself with a more accessible offer than Peugeot, while still offering a comfortable SUV equipped for everyday use.

The launch of the new Citroën C5 Aircross is part of a real shake-up of the French manufacturer's range. After the recent update of the C4 and C4 X and the launch of the new C3 Aircross, Citroën continues to make announcements with the updated C5 Aircross. Join us on 29th April at Passionnément Citroën to find out more about this new generation of the brand's large SUV.
