The third generation Citroën C4, which has been on sale since the beginning of 2021, replaced the C4 Cactus, but it quickly followed in the footsteps of its predecessors by achieving great success on the Spanish market, where it became the brand's first sale.
A new saloon with strong SUV accents, the Citroën C4 offers an atypical look in the category of very traditional compact saloons, where it literally explodes. 4m36 long, the C4 is full of quality, including generous space and unparalleled comfort, resulting in a real success with consumers, allowing it to regularly enter the top 10 best-sellers on the Spanish market.
Thus, in 2022, the C4 was the second best-selling compact saloon in Spain with 12,841 units, behind the Toyota Corolla (6,998 units), but first if we only count sales of saloons excluding estate cars, which are not offered on the C4. With this result, the C4 is the second best-selling brand in Spain after the C3 and is approaching the results achieved in France, where almost 17,500 units were sold.
This good performance is repeated in the first four months of 2023, as the C4 recorded a 17% increase in sales to reach 5,069 units, still behind the Toyota Corolla (5,852 units and - 5.03%), but always excluding estate cars. The C4 is Citroën's bestseller on the Spanish market in the first quarter of the year, ranking in the top 15 and even in the top 10 in the month of April alone, when it was ahead of the Corolla, all body styles combined.
These excellent performances are also achieved by the C4 in its 100% electric version, which experienced a real leap at the beginning of the year as its sales increased by 68.74% to reach 815 units, making it the second most sold electric compact saloon on the Spanish market after the MG 4 (959 units).
The Citroën C4 has always been a great success in Spain, the previous generation was even the best-selling car in the country, particularly in 2014, so it is only natural that this third generation should also enjoy the success it owes to its style and concept appreciated by Spanish customers, its qualities of habitability and comfort, but also its gun price in Spain since the C4 debuts in its Live version with the 1.2 Puretech 100 hp engine, starting at €21,155, i.e. almost €4,000 cheaper than in France.
