Stellantis: solid orders boost European sales

The Citroën C3

The past few months have presented significant challenges for the Stellantis Group, which has faced a notable decrease in its sales volumes. However, the situation appears to be evolving positively. In April, within the European market (EU30), Stellantis demonstrated encouraging resilience by increasing its volumes and indicating a potential recovery.

Market share growth and srge in orders for Stellantis

For the first time in 2025, Stellantis recorded an increase in its market share across the EU30, reaching 17.3% of sales in April, a 0.1 percentage point increase compared to April 2024. This performance is particularly noteworthy as two of the group's models feature in the Top 10 best-selling vehicles: the Citroën C3 and the Peugeot 208. Furthermore, the Citroën ë-C3 stood out by reaching the podium in the B segment for 100% electric vehicles. The positive trend in orders continues, with over one million units registered by mid-May. This success is notably driven by the Citroën C3 and the Citroën Aircross, each approaching 100,000 orders, as well as the Peugeot 3008, with around 50,000 orders.

Luca Napolitano, Stellantis' Director of Commercial Operations, comments: 'The return to market share performance is a very encouraging sign for the future. It shows that we are on the right track to regain lost ground. This momentum is confirmed by the favourable trend in order intake, which is accelerating rapidly, and by our consolidation of a leading position in the strategic hybrid vehicle segment, which is facilitating the transition to electric vehicles. It is significant that even the international press is beginning to recognise this pre-eminence."

Citroën C3 and brand performances within Stellantis

Analyzing the performance by brand and model reveals interesting dynamics across Europe. In Spain, Stellantis took the lead in the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segment in April, a success mainly attributed to the excellent results of the Citroën ë-C3 and the Peugeot e-2008, both ranked in the Top 10 best-selling vehicles. In the United Kingdom, the Opel Corsa stood out by becoming the number one city car, both for April and year-to-date. In Germany, Stellantis saw its passenger car sales volumes increase by 9.9%, and the total market grew by 6%. The Opel Corsa also maintains its leading position in the city car segment there. It is important to highlight the excellent performance of the Citroën C3, which, launched at the end of 2024, quickly positioned itself among the best sellers in the total EU30 market, reaching 5th place in the B segment and 6th place in the overall passenger car market in April. I will elaborate further on the success of the new Citroën C3 in an upcoming article.

April 2025 marks a turning point for Stellantis, with a year-over-year increase in its market share for the first time since the beginning of the year. While challenges remain, particularly regarding delivery times for hybrid versions, the high level of orders provides a positive outlook for the coming months. Stellantis also confirms its leadership in the hybrid vehicle market with a market share of 15.1%, a 4.7 percentage point increase compared to April 2024, with Peugeot recording the strongest growth. The Stellantis Pro One division also maintains its leading position in the light commercial vehicle market with a market share of 31.1%. These encouraging signs, highlighted by Luca Napolitano, Chief Commercial Officer of Stellantis, indicate a positive trajectory for the group.
