After the first images of the restyling on a C4X, it is the new restyled C4, which has just been photographed for the first time, with an equally imposing camouflage on the front and also on the rear, showing that the brand has given itself the means to truly transform its compact saloon.
Arriving in 2020, the third generation Citroën C4 inaugurates the new style of Citroën, inspired by the CXpérience concept with an evolution of the light signature, now in X and which we then found on the C5X. Inaugurating the concept of raised saloons, the third generation of C4 has a unique position in its segment by combining the advantages of saloons and SUVs, a theme that is found in the rest of the range both on the side of the new C3 as the large saloon C5X.
After 4 years of career, the Citroën C4 must evolve, especially as the brand has taken a radically different turn with the adoption of a new style under the leadership of Pierre Leclercq, who had not touched this C4 during its arrival. The adoption of the new logo and the end of the double-decker projectors required the brand's teams to carry out an in-depth review of the C4's style to ensure it was in line with Citroën's new design, although, as you will see, it will not be a copy and paste of what the brand has done on the new C3 and C3 Aircross.
The entire front end has been redesigned with new headlamps, now grouped in a single element that is much thinner than before, eliminating one of the criticisms levelled at the C4. These new headlamps should be LED and get horizontal LED bars in their lower part, which can be clearly seen in these photos. These LED bars should therefore be the C4's visual signature, with an LED bar located under the headlights, which can be clearly seen in this series of photos. New headlights, but also a new front grille in which we can clearly see that the grille is in the shape of chevrons, as on the new C3 Aircross, so Citroën is continuing to play with chevrons.
But this series of photos also shows that the brand will strongly influence the rear of the C4 with camouflage at the level of the lights, which here too will put an end to the LED bars forming an X. On what we can see, the brand has chosen to take up the theme seen since the restyled C5 Aircross, namely two horizontal LED bars that frame the indicators and the reversing light. But these new lights should also require a total reworking of the spoiler-light-rear-trim assembly, making this restyling much more than a simple version 2, but a real new car, as the modifications seem so important.
In conclusion, the Citroën C4, presented already 4 years ago, is preparing to undergo a major restyling to make it adopt the new stylistic language of Citroën, even if, as we see, it will not be identical to that adopted by the recent C3 and C3 Aircross, the brand's teams having had to come to terms with the initial style of the car. However, the restyling will be extensive and will give the C4 a completely new look, correcting the flaws of a front that is too spherical and a rear that is too busy. With a style revised towards greater simplicity but, I can assure you, still worked out with maximum attention to detail, the restyled Citroën C4 seems to pass for a new car with a personality that is as strong and unique as ever.
