New Citroën C3 Aircross: India orders open in September

The new Citroën C3 Aircross, unveiled at the end of April, has already been tested by the Indian press, giving the brand the opportunity to reveal the first characteristics of this new urban SUV and to announce that orders will be taken from September.

It will not have been necessary to wait long between the presentation of the C3 Aircross and its launch, as less than 6 months separate the two, the opposite of what happened with the C3, whose presentation took place in September 2021 to be marketed in July 2022.

It is therefore much faster than the C3 Aircross will arrive on the Indian market to help the C3 to grow the brand's sales in the country, but also throughout the Asian region, since the brand is counting a lot on this new urban SUV to conquer the Indonesian market.

The tests organised by Citroën have therefore enabled us to provide some initial information on the characteristics of the new C3 Aircross, particularly with regard to the engine. And as we expected, the new Citroën SUV will be powered by a single Puretech 1.2 engine of 110 bhp and 190 Nm of torque, which will only be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, although an automatic gearbox could be added in the coming months. It is therefore the same engine unit as the C3 turbo that will power the C3 Aircross, which with a length of 4.32 m and a capacity of 7 passengers should not have an incredible performance, which is not its aim.

However, in spite of its greater length and inevitably greater mass, Citroën announces an overall very reasonable consumption since it would be 5.56 l per 100 km, which would place it in the average of its segment on the Indian market.

Available in two configurations (5 and 7 seats), the C3 Aircross will have 4 personalisation packages which will mainly include colour combinations for the roof and the body. In terms of equipment, the move upmarket compared to the C3 is very clear, as the C3 Aircross will automatically be equipped with a 7-inch instrument cluster, a 10.2-inch multimedia screen with wireless connection wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, it also benefits from keyless start, tyre pressure monitoring and hill start assist.

Orders will be taken in September, when Citroën will announce the range and prices that will show where the new C3 Aircross stands in relation to its competitors. The second vehicle in the C-Cubed range, the C3 Aircross has solid arguments to make a name for itself on the market both in India and in Latin America, where it will also go on sale in October, as Citroën has the desire to move quickly to bring this new SUV to the market. The start of the new school year promises to be a busy one for Citroën internationally with this new C3 Aircross, but also with the development of the third derivative of the C-Cubed range, and in Europe with the presentation of the future C3.
