DS adds ChatGPT to its cars

Inside the DS4 with ChatGPT

A few months after announcing a full-scale test in five major European countries, a first for any manufacturer at the time, DS automobiles is going one step further at the beginning of 2024 by announcing the launch of ChatGPT across its entire range, making it the first manufacturer to do so.

The pilot phase of the deployment of the ChatGPT service in the DS IRIS SYSTEM infotainment system, launched in October 2023, has therefore been a great success for the brand, allowing it to benefit from generative artificial intelligence combined with the voice recognition of the DS. The brand also announces that the arrival of ChatGPT has led to a 50% increase in the use of voice recognition, a significant figure that demonstrates the curiosity generated by the possibilities of generative artificial intelligence.

Olivier François, Director of DS Automobiles, said: "By pioneering the integration of ChatGPT into the automotive world, we are making accessible a generative artificial intelligence that is fluid, intuitive and immersive, transforming every journey into a unique journey. Our mission at DS is to provide our customers with a unique in-car experience. "

For this reason, DS automobiles has decided to implement ChatGPT across its entire range when equipped with the DS IRIS SYSTEM in eighteen countries and thirteen languages around the world that are already covered by standard voice recognition:

  • Germany (German)

  • Austria (German)

  • Belgium (French, Dutch and German)

  • Denmark (Danish)

  • Spain (Spanish)

  • Metropolitan France, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion (French)

  • Ireland (English)

  • Italy (Italian)

  • Japan (Japanese)

  • Luxembourg (French and German)

  • Norway (Norwegian)

  • Netherlands (Dutch)

  • Poland (Polish)

  • Portugal (Portuguese)

  • Czech Republic (Czech)

  • United Kingdom (English)

  • Sweden (Swedish)

  • Switzerland (French, German and Italian)

Starting with cars delivered in March, users will be able to interact with the voice recognition of the DS IRIS SYSTEM, which becomes a true interactive travel companion, asking it all kinds of questions related to the current journey. And much more, for endless fun or learning while driving, without ever taking your eyes off the road or your hands off the wheel.

For the best driving experience, ChatGPT is part of the Connect Plus Pack, which already includes Connected Navigation, Remote Control and Remote E Commands, Connected Alarm, Send2Nav or even EV Trip Planner and e-Routes (depending on the model). This package will be offered as standard on all DS Automobiles models for a period of three years.

For his part, Yves Bonnefont, Chief Software Officer of Stellantis, states: "After a very successful pilot phase with our customers, we are proud to be the first to integrate the ChatGPT function as standard on all models in the DS Automobiles range, soon to be followed by other Stellantis brands.
