The Citroën Ami and C4 X on the island of Maddalena to promote electric mobility

After equipping the island of Chalki in Greece, Citroën supported the municipality of La Maddalena in Sardinia in 2022 to promote electric mobility by supplying several Amis. The brand is renewing its commitment for a second year by providing 2 Amis and the brand new ë-C4 X to promote electric mobility on the Italian island.

La Maddalena, the main island of the archipelago of the same name, is one of Italy's most famous islands, a destination for nature and seaside tourism thanks to its splendid land and sea landscapes. Since 1994, the entire area has been included in the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park, a protected marine and terrestrial natural area of national and Community interest.

For this reason, the Municipality of the island is constantly committed to safeguarding the natural heritage of its land and sea, protecting the environment, the beauty of its landscapes and its terrestrial and marine fauna, as well as improving the quality of life of its inhabitants and its many tourists. For the second year running, Citroën is helping to spread the culture of respect for the environment and the preservation of the island's cultural and natural heritage with the "CITROËN DRIVE LA MADDALENA ELECTRIC" project, which reflects the brand's commitment to the energy transition. This green initiative, which reaffirms Citroën's conviction that mobility must be increasingly respectful of the environment and accessible to all, involves the free loan of a fleet of 2 Citroëns. Ami and the new electric Citroën Ë-C4 X. These are vehicles adapted to the needs of each Institution, able to guarantee the performance of their daily activities, offering a smooth, silent and CO2-free movement throughout the island, both in the characteristic streets of the city and on secondary roads leading to spectacular beaches.

In addition, the "CITROËN DRIVE LA MADDALENA ELECTRIC" project offers the island's residents exclusive opportunities to purchase Citroën electric vehicles on favourable terms. In 2022, the initiative has recorded more than 1,000 test drives and more than 200,000 people who have landed on the island have seen the AMIs in action. A winning format, therefore, which this year also includes the island of Ponza, an oasis of tranquillity and tourism, where the sea and nature are in perfect harmony.

The handover ceremony for the Citroën fleet took place on 23 June in the presence of the Mayor of Ponza, Fabio Lai, the Deputy Mayor of Ponza, Federica Porcu, the Communications Director of Citroën Italy, Davide Nava, the Marketing Director of the Autoplus dealership in Olbia, Nicoletta Deidda, the Commander of the Military Police School, MM Simone Battisti, the Commander of the Local Police and representatives of the National Park and the Carabinieri.

Fabio Lai, Mayor of La Maddalena, says: "We are repeating an experience that goes far beyond a simple marketing operation. The important message of investing in sustainable mobility goes hand in hand with all other environmental initiatives. We live in a National Park, one of the most beautiful natural areas in the world, so it is natural to be pioneers and supporters of this type of event. The institutions must set a good example for the citizens, this project teaches more than a thousand slogans".

For his part, Alessandro Musumeci, Marketing Director of Citroën Italy, says: "We firmly believe in this project because it faithfully reflects our vision of an increasingly sustainable and responsible mobility of tomorrow. The aim is to extend our range of low emission vehicles and to electrify 100% of the range by 2025. At the same time, we want to help raise citizens' awareness of the fundamental importance of their contribution to the betterment of our planet. And the "CITROËN DRIVE LA MADDALENA ELECTRIC" project is a step in this direction, demonstrating how synergy between the public and private sectors can change the status quo."

Finally, Stefano Manca, owner of the Citroën Autoplus dealership in Olbia, explains: "We are continuing the sustainable mobility project on the island of La Maddalena. We are convinced that the protection of the territory and the environment requires, above all, a change. Even in the way we move. That is why, thanks to Citroën, with Ami we are making what we understand by "new mobility" accessible to everyone. of La Maddalena. confident that the sensitivity that has always characterised the inhabitants of La Maddalena towards the environment will find the right response in Ami".
