After a year 2023 marked by a strong increase in sales, which allowed Citroën to enter the top 5 in Greece, the brand continues its good trend with a further increase in sales in the first half of 2024, with an excellent performance by the C3, which closes the month of June in first place.
Undoubtedly, Citroën has had a love affair with Greece for several years, until 2023, when the brand entered the top 5 in terms of sales with phenomenal growth. And this trend continues in 2024, when the brand once again records remarkable performances that allow it to advance further in the ranking.
In June 2024, in a market up by 5.6% to 14,147 units, Citroën's sales increased by 7%, passing the 1,000 units mark to become the third brand in terms of sales, the leading brand in Stellantis, with a market share of 7.3%.
The brand can thank the C3, which sent the sales counters into a frenzy in June with an increase of 212.2%, reaching 796 units sold or 5.6% of the market. The C3 is, of course, the best-selling Stellantis car in Greece and it is also the leader in its segment, so it's a month of fanfare for the C3 as it prepares to pass the baton to the new generation.
If the C3 is smiling, the rest of the range is experiencing some difficulties, starting with the C3 Aircross, whose sales fell by 13% to 187 units, which puts it in 23rd place in terms of sales.
Citroën also performed well in the first half of the year, with sales up 9.3% in a market up 10.9% to 78,020 units. With 5,564 units sold, the brand achieved a market share of 7.1%, putting it in 4th place in terms of sales, up one place from 2023, a record year for Citroën.
The brand owes its good performance mainly to the C3, which ended its career with significant progress, as the versatile herringbone saloon increased its sales by 40.4% to 3,855 units, giving it a market share of 4.9%, placing it third in sales and second in its segment.
The C3 Aircross, despite a difficult month of June, increased its sales by 12.6% over the first half of the year with 1,192 units sold and a market share of 1.5%, but dropped two places in the sales rankings to take 19th place.
In conclusion, we could have expected Citroën's sales in Greece to fall slightly in 2024, after a record year in 2033. This is what happened to Opel, for example, whose sales fell by 47.7% in the first half of the year. Citroën, on the other hand, is definitely in good shape in Greece, ending the first half of the year with a further increase in sales and a new place in the rankings. The brand owes its good performance mainly to the C3, which shows that the renewal of the brand's versatile saloon is important and, if successful, could allow Citroën to take a new step in Greece.
