Unveiled in France a few weeks ago, the Citroën C5X Hypnos is a very special range that offers the ultimate in comfort, spoiling its passengers with a high-quality ambience in leather and light Alcantara. After its presentation in Europe, this Hypnos range joins the catalogue in China with, as you will see, a few little surprises.
On 1 April, the 2024 range of Citroën C5X will be launched in China, including a high-end version strongly inspired by the Hypnos range recently launched in Europe and called the Lu Bufan Edition on the Chinese market, which can be translated as Extraordinary Brigade. Strongly inspired by the European Hypnos version, this Citroën C5X will be painted in the same Eclipse Blue colour, but will also be available in a different body colour, Space Silver.
As in Europe, the Lu Bufan Edition version features certain bodywork elements in Rouge André, better known as Rouge Infrared, the brand's new signature colour. This red is present on the badges on the fenders and the front doors, but also on the C5X logo on the tailgate when it comes dressed in the 5, for more dynamism and pep.
However, this Chinese C5X adopts a major change in terms of exterior styling, as it receives door panels that blend into the C5X bodywork and have never been seen before. These new panels take the form of the air bumps that Citroën abandoned on the C5X and the new C3, but they do not take the air bumps, preferring instead to use chrome elements for more elegance.
This is the only difference between the two versions of the European or Chinese C5X Hypnos, even if in China the C5X adopts roof bars that are not present in Europe. Inside, the C5X Lu Bufan Edition adopts the characteristics of the Hypnos range, namely the upholstery of the seats in light-coloured leather and Alcantara, which brightens up an interior that has been considered too dark since its launch. We also find the small Hypnos elements in red on the front seat backrests and on the centre console, which is finished in black striped lacquer.
Otherwise there are no changes, the Citroën C5X is still offered in China with a 100% thermal engine, which makes no sense as the Chinese market is electrified. Only one engine is offered, the 1.6-litre 175 bhp mated to the EAT8 gearbox. In conclusion, Citroën continues to develop the C5X for the Chinese market with a new, much more upmarket finish, which adopts elements of the Hypnos range, which I will soon have the opportunity to test and present to you in detail on the site.
