Citroën Ami: distribution extended to the Netherlands

The Citroën Ami 2024

Little by little, the Citroën Ami is expanding its marketing by becoming available in new countries that were previously closed to it. While the brand's little chip has been available in Germany since the summer, it is now the turn of the Netherlands, where two versions of the Ami are available.

At the time of its launch, the Citroën Ami was only available in five countries, including France and Italy. However, given the success of the Ami, Citroën has gradually opened up its marketing in Europe and beyond, as the brand's little chip is also available in the Middle East, where it has been very successful.

A conquering Ami

However, Stellantis had decided to limit the marketing of the Citroën Ami where its sister car, the Opel Rocks-e, was not available. Citroën therefore did not market the Ami in Germany or the Netherlands, where Opel is stronger than Citroën, which should have left room for the Rocks-e to establish itself. But for a few months now, the situation has been reversed, since Citroën started orders for the Ami in Germany last summer and has just started them in the Netherlands.

The Citroën Ami is now available in two versions, starting with MY AMI AMI, the basic version, which can be driven from the age of 16 thanks to its top speed limit of 45 km/h. The basic version can be combined with the AMI Sport package. The basic version can be combined with the MY AMI COLOR accessory pack, which allows it to be finished in grey, blue or orange. The choice of colour is also reflected in the standard equipment, such as the decorative wheel trims, the floor mats, the practical bag hook on the passenger side, the storage compartments in the dashboard and the storage nets in the doors as in France, but the My AMI COLOR packs also include a mobile phone holder, Bluetooth smartphone connection and, above all, MY AMI Play with "Citroën Switch", which allows access to shortcuts for calls, navigation or the radio via a smartphone application, just like an in-car multimedia system.

The second version in the range is the MY AMI PEPS, which has a distinctive look thanks to its roof bars, rear spoiler and matt black wheel trims. It also has black bumpers, black headlight surrounds and a black front fascia with yellow detailing. Otherwise, the MY AMI PEPS is identical to the MY AMI AMI, including the MY AMI COLOR Pack, but with yellow and orange interior accents.

Ami is available in the Netherlands from €8,045, with a financing option starting from a few dozen euros per month, allowing Citroën to make electric mobility accessible to everyone, as it is everywhere Ami is sold. In conclusion, the barriers that prevented Citroën from selling Ami where Opel was stronger have been removed, allowing the brand to extend Ami orders to more countries and thus build on its success. With more than 65,000 units sold in 4 years, Citroën's little chip will therefore be able to conquer new customers in new countries, especially as the redesigned version will be launched in the coming months with a brand new personality that should increase its success.
