Sales figures for the major European automotive markets have all been published, providing an opportunity to examine the performance of the markets and, more importantly, the performance of the Group's brands, particularly Citroën. The seven markets analysed here represent approximately 80% of the total European market and provide a fairly clear picture of the performance of each market.
After a negative January, the downward trend continued in February with a decline of 2.72% in all markets except Spain, which, as in January, recorded double-digit growth. While the declines in France and the UK were reasonable, they were much more pronounced elsewhere, particularly in Germany, Europe's largest market.

As in January, Citroën's sales are down in the seven markets covered by this report, mainly due to the absence of the C3 Aircross, which will arrive in dealerships in March to fill the current gap in the range. However, while the brand is slightly down in France and Italy, its two main markets, it is down sharply elsewhere, with the exception of Germany, where it is up again. Finally, Citroën is not the only brand to see a decline at Stellantis, as all brands are down, including Fiat and Opel, which are down sharply.

In this context, Citroën's sales in France are more than 40%, the weight of its home country is greater than before. Note also the importance of Italy, which accounts for more than 23% of Citroën's sales, compared with less than 20% in Europe. This indicates that the brand is very strong there, while Germany and England are still underrepresented in Citroën's sales relative to their weight in the European market. Note also Fiat's extreme dependence on Italy, which accounts for almost 69% of its sales. In conclusion, despite the new C3, which is expected to perform well in Europe after its success in France and Italy, Citroën's sales are still declining due to the absence of the C3 Aircross, which represented more than 16% of the brand's sales in Europe in February 2024. It's clear that the main reason for this decline is the absence of the C3 Aircross. Moreover, the brand had a very strong February 2024 with a 26.7% increase in sales, so the decline observed here is quite logical.
