Following various issues with its PureTech engines, Stellantis responded last week by launching a dedicated compensation platform. Today, the Group announces the extension of this initiative to BlueHDi diesel engines, demonstrating its commitment to its customers.

The Group is aware of the difficulties encountered by its PureTech and BlueHDi engines.

Stellantis' PureTech and BlueHDi engines have experienced significant technical issues that have undermined consumer confidence in the Group's brands. The PureTech 1.0 and 1.2 engines have been subject to premature timing belt failure, resulting in excessive oil consumption and costly repairs. In response to these failures, Stellantis has introduced an extended warranty covering 100% of the cost of parts and labour for up to 10 years or 175,000 kilometres under certain conditions.

At the same time, BlueHDi diesel engines have developed problems with AdBlue tanks, requiring costly repairs for many drivers. In response, Stellantis, in agreement with the European Commission, has extended its compensation policy to the entire European Union. This now covers certain Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles and Opel/Vauxhall vehicles fitted with Euro 6 diesel engines with SCR technology manufactured between January 2014 and August 2020.

Here are the details of the Extended Warranty for BlueHDi diesel engines.

This extended warranty is a voluntary contribution that offers customers additional benefits over and above the standard warranty. It applies to certain diesel cars manufactured between January 2014 and August 2020 and covers parts and labour for up to 210,000km, depending on the age and mileage of the car:

  • For vehicles less than 5 years old or with less than 150,000 kilometres, Stellantis will cover 100% of the cost of parts.

  • For vehicles between 5 and 8 years old, Stellantis covers between 30% and 90% of the cost of parts, depending on the mileage.

In addition, Stellantis will cover labour costs up to €30 per case. These conditions are valid until August 2028 at the latest, depending on the age of the vehicle. Stellantis aims to ensure that all its customers benefit from fair coverage. Therefore, those who have already had their vehicle repaired by an authorised dealer/repairer from 2021 and who have already benefited from special cover (in some cases less favourable than the new policy introduced) will be able to benefit from additional compensation from the brands concerned. Customers eligible for these new measures can quickly and easily make a claim via the online compensation platform available here: https://stellantis-support.com.

In recent weeks, Stellantis has made a significant change to demonstrate its determination to rebuild trust within its network and with its consumers. From now on, customers experiencing problems with PureTech or BlueHDi engines will benefit from appropriate compensation, demonstrating the Group's commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.
