Stellantis occupies a key position in Spain, where the manufacturer has three emblematic factories in Madrid, Vigo and Zaragoza, where it produces more than 40% of the vehicles. These strategic locations make Stellantis the undisputed leader in Spanish car manufacturing.

Focus on the Vigo and Zaragoza sites

The Vigo and Zaragoza plants played a central role in Stellantis' success in 2024. Vigo produced 516,500 vehicles, of which 45,421 were electric, or 8.8% of the total. Zaragoza assembled 372,481 vehicles, of which 50,855 were electric, representing 13.6% of its volume.

These two plants will benefit from the STLA Small platform dedicated to B and C segment vehicles. This allocation ensures their long-term competitiveness as it is in line with the Group's electrification strategy. Advances in battery assembly at these two sites also strengthen their role in the energy transition. In Vigo, for example, a new workshop can produce up to 70,000 batteries per year, complementing existing capacity. Zaragoza also has a high-performance workshop capable of producing 190,000 batteries per year.

Madrid: a plant for the future

The Madrid plant exclusively manufactures the Citroën C4 and C4 X, of which it has just started production of the redesigned versions. In 2024, this site produced 92,589 vehicles, including 11,119 electric vehicles, representing 12% of total production. Although Madrid did not receive the STLA Small platform, Stellantis has secured the future of this site by recently building a 2,000 m² battery assembly workshop capable of producing 50,000 units per year.

In addition, the plant is committed to sustainability, with photovoltaic installations generating up to 18,757 MWh per year, an important step towards energy autonomy.

A strategy based on electrification and sustainability

Stellantis is consolidating its leadership in Spain thanks to its ongoing electrification efforts. The Group is currently the only manufacturer to produce electric cars in its three Spanish factories, which will enable it to produce 93.5% of the electric vehicles produced in the country by 2024.

At the same time, the energy transition of the factories is progressing rapidly. The Vigo plant, for example, is about to commission a photovoltaic farm with a production capacity of 24 GWh of electricity per year. Zaragoza has adopted a hybrid approach, combining solar and wind power, which will cover 80% of its energy needs.

With three efficient and strategic plants, Stellantis is consolidating its position as the leading car manufacturer in Spain. The announcement of the new STLA Small platform demonstrates its commitment to innovation and electrification. Combined with investments in sustainability, these elements put Stellantis in an ideal position to maintain its leadership in the years to come.
