The 2024 edition of the Paris Motor Show was an opportunity for Citroën to present a largely revamped range of vehicles and a clear vision of what the brand is preparing for the future. From the Ami to the C5 Aircross concept, Citroën has shown that daring is still at the heart of its values in terms of design and aerodynamics.
C4 X: the neo-sedan
Presented in 2022, the Citroën C4 X is a somewhat unique model on the European market, where saloons with a separate boot or classic boot are not the best-selling models, even if the Tesla Model 3 shows that their success is possible.
Citroën has taken advantage of the restyling of the C4 to modify the C4 X, applying the same changes only to the front of the Citroën hatchback. The bonnet has been modified to incorporate the new Citroën logo, and the headlights are very slim and black-tinted, continuing into the grille to give the car a wider appearance. The brand's new light signature frames the headlights with three horizontal LED bars, again to make the car look wider. At the rear, however, the changes are extremely limited: the new logo replaces the old one, and that's all, since the C4 X already had the new Citroën light signature before the Oli.
This restyling is an opportunity for Citroën to re-launch the C4 X on the European market after its great success, particularly in Turkey, where it is regularly among the top 10 bestsellers. For this new launch, Citroën has chosen Eclipse Blue as the launch and standard colour for this C4 X and will only offer it with a 136 hp hybrid and 136 and 156 hp electric engines with a range of up to 420 km. Of course, the C4 X is a 4-door saloon with a boot, not the best-selling type of vehicle in France and Europe, but with a 520-litre boot it can swallow the luggage of the whole family and the folding rear seat maximises the volume. For those for whom a hatchback is an absolute necessity, the C5 Aircross will do the trick, but for others the C4 X will be perfect in all situations.
New C3 Aircross: The urban family SUV
Unveiled last June, the new Citroën C3 Aircross made its first public appearance at the Paris Motor Show, where it was presented in 5- and 7-seat versions, a unique offer on the market.
While the new C3 Aircross shares the headlights and bonnet of the new C3, the brand has widened the fenders to give it more personality and reinforce its off-road look.
Now almost 4.40 metres long, the brand's new urban SUV aims to be a benchmark in terms of living space and this is the case as the knee room is 8cm higher than the segment average, thus ensuring rear passengers a royal and very comfortable place since, as on the C3, they have Advanced Comfort seats and suspension, a first for Citroën in this segment.
Visitors to the Paris Motor Show were thus able to appreciate the qualities of the C3 Aircross, with a large number of enquiries apparently resulting in a good volume of orders, which is a source of hope for the coming months.
Delayed by the production problems of the C3, the new C3 Aircross will arrive at the brand's dealers in the first weeks of the year and will be tested on Passionnément Citroën from mid-February.
In conclusion, the Paris Motor Show was an opportunity for Citroën to present its renewed range and in particular its family saloons and SUVs, demonstrating the brand's commitment to families as it has always done, especially since the Xsara Picasso. The new C3 Aircross and C4 X will be in the news at the beginning of the year, allowing Citroën to meet the needs of consumers with a more compact and very spacious urban SUV or a neo-sedan that is more elegant and very spacious at the same time.
