The 2024 edition of the Paris Motor Show was an opportunity for Citroën to present a largely revamped range of vehicles and a clear vision of what the brand is preparing for the future. From the Ami to the C5 Aircross concept, Citroën has shown that daring is still at the heart of its values in terms of design and aerodynamics.
Citroën C5 Aircross: a very real concept
This is certainly THE surprise from Citroën for this Mondial de l'Auto that almost no one saw coming: the new C5 Aircross in a concept version very close to the series. Expected in 2025, the second generation of the brand's large SUV was therefore honoured at the Paris Motor Show, where the brand decided to show it off without hiding too much..
The concept anticipates the production version by 90-95%, which is very close to a second generation that promises to be bold and where aerodynamics have been particularly studied.
In fact, the future C5 Aircross will use the engines of the latest Peugeot 3008 and in particular its electric motors, so it will need efficient aerodynamics to offer a range of 680 km. This is why the brand has come up with the innovative Citroën Light Wings, lights that stand out clearly from the bodywork to guide the air, and which, according to Pierre Leclercq, will be standard on all the lines of this concept.
As soon as the World Cup was over, the first prototypes of the future C5 Aircross took to the road with the final bodywork, proving that the concept was indeed close and that the brand's future large SUV will be part of a clear trend for several years to offer cars where audacity is the order of the day and which clearly stand out in traffic.
Citroën Ami Buggy 2025: the return
Back in 2021, Citroën toyed with its Ami by unveiling a buggy version as a concept, which proved so popular that it was immediately produced in limited numbers. The following year, the brand repeated the operation with an improved Buggy, this time limited to 1,000 units, all of which were quickly snapped up.
For this 2024 edition, Citroën is therefore offering a renewed version of its Ami Buggy, which takes up the aesthetic codes of the Ami restyling and adopts a completely new front end, but the brand is going much further with this concept than the previous ones. The brand has abandoned the khaki green of the previous Buggy in favour of a more fashionable two-tone colour with purple at the bottom and white for the roof, bringing Ami even closer to the Citroën range. The same white is used for the logo and the whole of the capsule to create a strong contrast with the bodywork.
Citroën has also given the Ami Buggy concept widened tracks and sand tyres, giving it a much more off-road look. Finally, in the interior, the Ami Buggy vision concept takes up the red colour of the Oli concept to upholster the seats with thicker foam. It is possible that this vision of an Ami Buggy will become a reality in the coming months, as the version looks so accomplished.
In conclusion, whether at the entry level or at the top of the range, Citroëns will have to respond to a design where audacity is very present but remains very accessible, this is the whole difference between Dacia and Citroën. More than ever, the brand is staying true to its values of style, daring and comfort, while remaining popular and accessible, a recipe that could well work.
