New Citroën ë-Jumpy 4x4 Dangel: the electric van pushing boundaries

The Citroën ë-Jumpy in red

Following the successful path paved by the ë-Berlingo, the brand with the double chevrons continues to expand its offer for demanding professionals. It is a logical yet crucial step in Stellantis' electrification strategy: Dangel is now tackling the Citroën ë-Jumpy with a 4x4 version. This new addition allows companies and public administrations looking to "green" their fleets to no longer choose between environmental respect and off-road capabilities. By offering this technology across a coherent range, now including two vehicles of different dimensions, Citroën and Dangel are addressing a wide spectrum of operational needs, from mountain artisans to major infrastructure network managers.

An exclusive reveal in the Swiss landscape

It was in a setting that leaves no room for doubt regarding vehicle capabilities that this novelty was unveiled. The presentation, organized in Switzerland, highlights the relevance of the Citroën ë-Jumpy 4x4 in the face of rigorous winter conditions and rugged terrain. This version completes the brand's range of 4-wheel drive electric commercial vehicles, following directly in the footsteps of the success encountered by the Berlingo.

The presentation video, shared by the brand's Swiss subsidiary, showcases the ingenuity of the technical integration achieved by the French specialist Dangel. Far from a simple cosmetic adaptation, this is a genuine mechanical and structural transformation. The technology installed on the ë-Jumpy relies on a profound modification of the drivetrain. We can observe the addition of a longitudinal transmission shaft and a specific rear axle, all skillfully integrated to coexist with the battery pack located in the floor.

Dangel's expertise lies in its ability to preserve the original electric architecture while grafting on a switchable or permanent all-wheel-drive system depending on the modes. The vehicle also benefits from increased ground clearance, essential for overcoming obstacles or driving in deep snow, as well as underbody protection plates to secure vital components and batteries against impacts. This configuration allows the ë-Jumpy to retain its cargo volumes while acquiring flawless traction.

A strategic asset for corporate fleets and administrations

The arrival of this 4-wheel drive variant on a 100% electric powertrain represents a major turning point for fleet managers. Until now, administrations (such as forestry commissions, power grid managers, or mountain rescue services) often had to keep polluting combustion vehicles to ensure their interventions in difficult terrain. The ë-Jumpy 4x4 Dangel removes this technological barrier.

The advantages are manifold. On one hand, companies can meet CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) requirements and access Low Emission Zones (LEZ) in city centers, while retaining the ability to work on muddy construction sites or snowy roads on the same day. On the other hand, the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is optimized thanks to the electric powertrain, which is less expensive to maintain and power than diesel equivalents.

It is essential to recall the historical and industrial link uniting Dangel and Stellantis. This transformation is not a simple "aftermarket" job; it is the result of close collaboration where Dangel engineers work in concert with those from Citroën. This guarantees reliability up to manufacturer standards, easier maintenance within the Citroën network, and simplified homologation. Dangel brings its mastery of differentials and torque management here, adapted to the specifics of the immediate torque of electric motors, offering driving smoothness and formidable efficiency on slippery ground.

An uncompromised commercial range

In conclusion, this news demonstrates that thanks to Dangel's know-how, Stellantis and Citroën now possess the technology to develop high-performance electric 4-wheel drive vans. This synergy makes it possible to meet almost all the needs of administrations and businesses, whether for urban logistics or rural intervention.

This strategy allows Citroën to consolidate its position as a leader in the LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) market. The brand now offers the widest electric range on the market, extending from micro-mobility with the Ami Cargo, ideal for the last mile, up to large volumes with the ë-Jumper. By inserting the 4x4 versions of the Berlingo and Jumpy, Citroën now covers all segments and all uses, proving that going electric is no longer a constraint, but an opportunity for increased versatility.
