This is the other major new product from Citroën this year, this one intended for markets outside Europe, but it is a first in history as it is the first SUV coupé from Citroën. Announced at the end of March via a few photos and in the form of a vision, the Citroën Basalt will be fully unveiled on 2 August, with a presentation to follow on Passionnément Citroën.
It is therefore on 2 August that Citroën will lift the veil on its very first SUV coupé, the Basalt will show for the first time its interior which, if it should be very close to that of the C3 and C3 Aircross marketed in India and Latin America, will offer different arrangements that will raise the overall level of services for more comfort. We previewed these new features in a previous article on the Basalt, and they are important because they give a clear indication of the developments the brand will be bringing to its range in the coming months.
Before this presentation, the Citroën Basalt was caught on the street without any camouflage, the opportunity to confirm that the vision of March was indeed perfectly in line with the production version and to note two things: the first SUV coupe from Citroën will have LED headlights at the top of the range instead of halogens and, finally, it will adopt the famous Clor Clips present on the range in Europe and which can be clearly seen on the bumper and the rear quarter panel.
We also note that, after the yellow hue of the Vision, the brand has opted for a bright red on the production model.
I will meet you on the 2nd of August for a detailed presentation of this new basalt, which is important in more ways than one, even though it will not be marketed in Europe. It will show an evolution of the products sold outside Europe, but it would also give indications of other elements that we could find in Europe, we will have to wait for the next few months to be sure.
