New 8-year Citroën warranty: confidence and extended protection for all models

Citroën We Care, 8-year warranty

Recent months have been particularly challenging for Citroën's image. The extensive media coverage of PureTech engine issues, the large-scale Takata airbag recall, and a degree of "Citroën Bashing" have significantly affected the brand's reputation, as well as that of Stellantis. In response, the group has reacted strongly by introducing an 8-year warranty, which Citroën is now deploying across its entire range, marking a decisive turning point.

Citroën We Care: an 8-year warranty for unparalleled peace of mind

Citroën, through its Citroën We Care program, is taking a major step forward in terms of customer trust. The brand is extending its warranty to 8 years or 160,000 km (approximately 100,000 miles), offering unprecedented peace of mind. This coverage applies to the entire range, whether it's passenger vehicles or light commercial vehicles, regardless of the powertrain – internal combustion, plug-in hybrid, or electric.

What particularly distinguishes this offer is its flexibility and generosity. Each service performed within the Citroën network automatically extends the coverage until the next due date, ensuring continuous protection. For internal combustion and hybrid powertrains, this means one additional year of warranty with each service. For electric models, this extension is two years, highlighting Citroën's commitment to its latest technologies. The activation of this extension is simple and transparent, confirmed by an email certificate sent after each service visit.

Another major advantage: this warranty is transferable. This means it can be passed on to the vehicle's new owner without any formalities, enhancing the vehicle's resale value and offering complete peace of mind during the first eight years of the Citroën's life. This transferability complements existing Citroën service contracts, allowing, for example, a four-year service contract to generate up to six years of total coverage.

As Édouard George, Director of Citroën France, emphasizes: « With Citroën WE CARE, we reaffirm our commitment to simplifying our customers' lives and offering them lasting peace of mind. This extended warranty, now accessible to everyone, covers the entire Citroën range – both passenger and commercial vehicles – and is aimed at both individuals and businesses. It reflects our network's strong commitment to quality, long-term support. » These statements convey a clear desire to restore confidence and support customers over the long term.

Extended and transparent coverage

The Citroën We Care Warranty does not just extend the duration of protection; it also broadens the list of covered components, offering much more comprehensive coverage than standard warranties. In addition to major mechanical components such as the engine, gearbox, and axle, this extended warranty now includes:

  • Engine cooling system and power steering reservoir

  • Air conditioning system

  • Electrical components and system (including circuits)

  • Safety systems

  • All suspensions

  • All seats

  • Opening components protection

  • Braking system

  • Onboard instrumentation

It is important to note that the infotainment system and roadside assistance remain excluded from this expanded coverage. The complete and detailed list of covered items is available upon request or via the official Citroën website, ensuring full transparency for customers.

This program is accessible to all customers, private and professional alike, regardless of the purchase channel. It reflects a strong commitment from the brand and its network to offer reliable, durable, and well-maintained vehicles throughout their lifecycle.

With this 8-year extended warranty, Citroën clearly aims to reassure its customers and mitigate any potential damage to its image caused by recent issues. This strategic initiative allows the brand to reposition itself at the level of its most aggressive competitors in terms of warranties, while complementing its commitment to making mobility accessible to all. By offering such peace of mind, Citroën is not just selling vehicles; it is offering a more reliable and serene ownership experience, reaffirming its commitment to its customers and the durability of its products.
