Miami E-Prix: Citroën Racing leads the way for Formula E round three

Citroën Formula E

This weekend marks a crucial milestone in the 2025/26 Formula E season with the third E-Prix of the year. Following two high-level performances in the opening rounds, Citroën Racing arrives in the United States holding the prestigious status of championship favorite. While recent results allow the team to approach this event with legitimate confidence, caution remains the keyword within the French squad. In motorsport, and especially in a discipline as unpredictable as Formula E, today's victory does not guarantee tomorrow's success, and the chevron brand knows it must work harder than ever to maintain its lead.

A brand-new circuit in Miami and promising Rookie Tests

For this third round, Formula E sets up camp at the Miami International Autodrome. This track, entirely new for all competitors, features a length of 2.32 km and includes a total of 14 turns. This urban circuit is characterized by a mix of high-speed sections and technical zones, demanding surgical precision from the drivers and optimal energy management from the engineers. The track layout is likely to encourage overtaking, offering an intense spectacle for the American audience, whose interest in the series continues to grow.

One of the highlights of this Florida weekend will be the rookie tests held on Friday, January 30th, at 2:30 PM. On this occasion, Citroën Racing will provide French driver Théo Pourchaire with his first Formula E experience. The former Formula 2 champion will take the wheel of the single-seater for a track session that promises to be vital. These tests are not just an opportunity for the young French talent; they will also allow the technical team to gather fundamental data on the car's behavior on this specific surface ahead of the official qualifying sessions.

Team ambitions and drivers' insights

The Citroën Racing team enters this event bolstered by its leading position in the Drivers', Teams', and Manufacturers' standings (via the Stellantis powertrain group). This momentum is the result of exemplary consistency: a brilliant victory by Nick Cassidy in Mexico City and an inaugural podium in São Paulo. Team Principal Cyril Blais, along with the regular drivers, shared their vision for this American challenge.

Cyril Blais, Team Principal of the Citroën Racing Formula E Team, emphasizes the importance of staying alert: “We have had an excellent start to the season, but our priority is to maintain this momentum. We know better than anyone that in Formula E, nothing is ever guaranteed. Miami is a brand-new track for the entire field, which brings both excitement and opportunities. Racing in a location like this shows the health of the Championship: the Formula E fan base is constantly growing, and competing at such an iconic site as Miami is a great illustration of that. Nick and Jean‑Éric are both at a very high level, and we are doing everything possible to give them the means to fight once again for a very good result.”

For his part, Nick Cassidy, the current championship leader, shares his enthusiasm for this discovery: “I am really looking forward to experiencing the Miami International Autodrome. Arriving at a new circuit for the first time is always something special. We have started the season very well, notably with the win in Mexico City, and the dynamic within the Citroën Racing team is very positive. Everyone is giving their all, the energy is very good, and our goal is to continue building on this momentum and achieve another solid result in Miami.”

Finally, double world champion Jean-Éric Vergne provides a more nuanced analysis, focusing on technical progress: “I can’t wait to get on track in Miami: it’s a new layout for everyone, and it’s always interesting and stimulating from a driver’s perspective. After the win in Mexico City, the atmosphere in the team is excellent. We’ve had two good races to start the season, especially on Nick’s side of the garage, and overall, the team has done a remarkable job. There are still a few points we can improve on my side to ensure the best possible weekend. I am convinced we can take another step forward in Miami. I feel good and I’m ready to start.”

These statements reflect a sense of serenity and clear ambition within the brand. Citroën is not resting on its current laurels but is actively seeking to optimize every detail to turn potential into concrete points.

A conclusion defined by excellence and prudence

Arriving in Florida as the championship leader, Citroën will inevitably be the most watched team on the grid. The performances achieved in São Paulo and Mexico City have set the bar very high, and direct competitors will do everything to reverse the trend. While the brand arrives strong with its two previous excellent results, it keeps in mind that the hierarchy in Formula E remains fragile.

It would be premature to consider Citroën as the absolute dominant force of the field. The team continues its learning process and adaptation to the subtleties of this complex discipline. Nonetheless, this season start is a sign of successful deep-rooted work, combining technical reliability and pure driver talent. The Miami meeting will be a real-world test to confirm that the chevrons truly belong at the summit of global electric motorsport..
