May 2023 review - GERMANY Car market


The German car market continues to recover with 246,966 units sold, an increase of 19.2% compared to the same period last year. The share of electric cars continues to grow, with sales increasing by 46.6% to reach a market share of 17.3%, approaching the level of diesel cars.

In this context, sales of the

  • ALFA ROMEO, up 169.5% to 609 units for a market share of 0.2%.

  • CITROËN, down 10.5% to 3,700 units for a market share of 1.5%; and

  • DS up 14.1% to 146 units

  • FIAT fell 17.3% to 5,650 units, giving a market share of 2.3%.

  • JEEP were down 12.3% to 960 units for a market share of 0.4%.

  • MASERATI are 82 units

  • OPEL are down 20.3% to 10,405 units for a market share of 4.2%.

  • PEUGEOT are up 10.6% to 3,521 units for a market share of 1.4%.

Stellantis sales totalled 25,073 units for a market share of 10.15%. The sales of the brands are quite contrasting and, even if Citroën's are down, the brand is at a higher level than Peugeot, something rare enough to underline.
