In October, Citroën surprised everyone at the Mondial de l'Automobile with the presentation of the C5 Aircross concept, which was 90-95% of the second generation of the brand's large SUV. Today, after several photos of prototypes that did not show its final body, the next C5 Aircross was caught on the road, showing the obvious family link with the concept.
A few weeks ago, the Rennes plant announced the production of the first second-generation C5 Aircross on its assembly lines, starting the countdown to the official unveiling of the Chevrolet brand's big SUV, which should take place by the end of the first half of next year.
This first series of photos therefore shows the final version of the future C5 Aircross, still hidden under a thick camouflage, although the latter cannot hide the details of this C5 Aircross that we can guess. We can see that the rear lights, so characteristic of this second generation, have indeed been retained and that they will protrude generously from the rear wings to guide the air and give this C5 Aircross a unique look. At the front, we can also see the horizontal LED bars that make up the light signature, the two vertical squares are hidden here but will be present on the future generation, thus presenting continuity with the rest of the range without being a copy and paste.
These first photos also give us a glimpse of the wheels that will equip the future C5 Aircross, which will present a very worked-out design that is close to that of the concept, without being a complete copy of it.
Based on the STLA Medium platform, the future C5 Aircross will now stretch to 4.65 metres, 15 centimetres more than the current generation, with an extended wheelbase for the benefit of generous living space. It will use the hybrid and electric motors of the Peugeot 3008, with a battery that will allow it to reach 680 kilometres of autonomy, taking advantage of the excellent aerodynamic work carried out on this future large SUV with chevrons.
In conclusion, after the concept announced a precise vision of the future C5 Aircross, these first photos confirm Pierre Leclercq's words that all the lines of the concept would be found on the production version. The future C5 Aircross will therefore be a beautiful SUV with an original style and well thought-out aerodynamics that will offer its occupants comfort and wellbeing.
