DS Automobiles: notable growth in the difficult German market in the first half of 2025

The 2025 DS brand

The past few months have been particularly challenging for DS Automobiles, facing a significant decline in sales across the entire European market. However, the first half of 2025 brings a glimmer of optimism, with a notable increase in the brand's sales in the German market, known for being one of the most demanding and competitive.

DS Automobiles' commercial performance in Germany: a positive signal

In the first half of 2025, DS Automobiles showcased remarkable growth in the German market, going against the overall downward trend. While the overall market declined by 4.7% according to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), DS's new registrations increased by 6.7%, reaching 1,696 vehicles. This performance allows DS Automobiles to maintain its position among the top 10 premium brands represented in Germany, a notable achievement in this highly competitive market.

The DS 7 stands out as the driving force behind this growth, accounting for approximately two-thirds of the brand's new registrations in Germany during this period. This elegant and characterful SUV continues to attract buyers, especially professional clients, thanks to its comfort, features, and distinctive style. The DS 4, the compact crossover "Designed in Paris, Manufactured in Germany," is also gaining importance, making up about a quarter of new registrations. Its increasing success among customers seeking distinctive design, everyday practicality, and innovative technology is undeniable. Finally, the DS 3 completes the model range with around seven percent of sales, offering a compact and premium urban alternative.

Christine Schulze Tergeist, Managing Director of Stellantis Premium Brands Germany, highlighted the stable development for DS Automobiles, even though market growth somewhat normalized in the second quarter. She emphasized the consistent development of the brand in the premium segment, which is yielding results, particularly among corporate clients. With the imminent arrival of the new DS N°8 and DS N°4 models, she anticipates a dynamic second half, which should strengthen DS's position in the German market.

The german market: a demanding testing ground for premium brands

The German automotive market is recognized as one of the most demanding and challenging in Europe, especially for premium brands. Germany is the birthplace of world-renowned car manufacturers, and domestic brands enjoy strong recognition and deep-rooted customer loyalty. In this context, DS Automobiles' performance in the first half of 2025 is even more remarkable. It signifies a growing recognition among German customers for the intrinsic qualities of the brand's vehicles, ranging from distinctive design to technological innovation, as well as comfort and refinement.

This breakthrough in such a competitive market is not only an indicator of commercial success but also a validation of DS Automobiles' strategy. The brand's ability to gain market share and establish itself against well-established competitors demonstrates that its premium positioning and French luxury approach resonate with a demanding clientele. This is an encouraging sign for the brand, which aims to firmly establish itself as a major player in the premium segment across Europe.

Succeeding in the German market is a significant challenge, especially for a premium brand that must compete with well-established giants. Of course, DS Automobiles' sales volumes in Germany are still modest, and it will take many years to achieve critical mass. However, this progress in the first half of 2025 is a very positive sign. It paves the way for the upcoming arrival of new DS N°8 and DS N°4 that promise to energize the brand's offerings.

These two new models will significantly enrich DS Automobiles' lineup, emphasizing modern mobility, electric range, and Parisian design expertise. They will accompany the continued success of the DS 7 and are expected to strengthen the brand's position as an innovative premium provider with strong European roots, a clear design signature, and a customer-oriented model strategy, for both private and professional clients. The journey is still long, but this breakthrough in Germany provides a solid foundation for the future development of DS Automobiles.
