C5 Aircross is a key player in the electric car market, where it has performed excellently since the beginning of the year, making it the sales leader in this segment for the first half of the year.

It is therefore an excellent performance achieved by the large SUV of the brand which is even historic for him since he had never ranked first in sales since the launch of the rechargeable hybrid engine. Despite the months of May and June when it ranked in the top 5, the C5 Aircross has always been at the forefront of this market segment since the beginning of the year, which allows it, in the end, to to be the leader for the whole of the first semester.

In detail, the market for plug-in hybrid vehicles has reached 78,178 units since January 1, an increase of 23.8% compared to 2022 and a share of 8.79% of the total market. The Citroën C5 Aircross sold 4,429 units, representing a market share of 5.67% and a share of sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles which amount to 37.74% of total sales of the large SUV with chevrons.

The C5 Aircross is ahead of the Peugeot 3008 in the first half, which therefore ranks second with 4,147 units sold, i.e. a share of plug-in hybrids of 23.62% of the lion's SUV's total sales, which is significantly less than for the C5 Aircross. Finally, the podium is completed by the DS 7 E-Tense with 3,444 units and a share of plug-in hybrids of 69.83%, a sign of the excellent acceptance of this engine by premium customers, the DS 7 also ranking in leader in sales of premium plug-in hybrids in the first half.

In June, the Citroën C5 Aircross was in 5th place with 696 units and a sales increase of 4% for a market share of 3.88%; the brand's large SUV has experienced a drop in activity since May. The market for plug-in hybrids represents 17,935 units in June, an increase of 49.9% compared to June 2022 and a share of 9.4% of the total market.

of the total market. Finally, it should be noted that the vast majority of sales of plug-in hybrids are made by companies (76.30%), with private individuals representing only 23.7% of customers, while they represent 54.50% of customers of 100% electric cars.

The top 5 sales are as follows

  • Peugeot 308: 1,096 units

  • VW Tiguan: 954 units

  • Peugeot 3008: 772 units

  • DS 7: 733 units

  • Citroën C5 Aircross: 696 units

In conclusion, the C5 Aircross achieved an excellent performance in the first half of the year, leading the sales of plug-in hybrids for the first time. This performance is all the more satisfactory given that the majority of customers are companies, a segment in which Citroën, unlike Peugeot, is not as efficient as with private customers. It remains for the brand to provide sufficient support for its large SUV to keep it at the top of the sales charts for the year.
