Citroën C3: towards a new finish?

The new Citroën C3 in black with a white roof

The new C3 is the first car to embody Citroën's new positioning as a popular brand that wants to make its cars more accessible. With this in mind, the brand has simplified the versions as much as possible, with only two possible choices between an entry-level You version and the high-end Max version. But the presentation of the new C3 Aircross could give an idea of what Citroën can offer with the latest C3.

In fact, Citroën's new urban SUV is part of the trend initiated by the C3 and offers only two versions in the range with a notable difference, however, since Citroën has added a Pack Plus version to the You version, making it significantly more attractive without being as high-end as the Max version.

On this C3 Aircross You Pack Plus, the brand offers an interesting level of equipment with 17-inch alloy wheels, dark tinted rear windows, colour clips, 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity, advanced comfort seats, automatic air conditioning, automatic wipers, electric rear windows, reversing camera and even electric mirrors. This trim level, which is not really a trim level but rather a pack of options available only on the entry-level You, costs €2,100 more than the You version and is perfectly positioned between this You trim level and the Max version, as it is €2,100 cheaper than the high-end trim level. An option pack that is truly at the heart of the range, giving customers more choice and, in particular, the possibility of opting for the multimedia screen for which smartphone support is prohibitively expensive.

Currently, the new C3 only offers the You and Max finishes, with no option between the two, which severely limits customer choice and could cause Citroën to lose some sales, particularly from those for whom the Max finish is too expensive and the You finish too bare. By offering a Pack Plus on the C3, Citroën would therefore close the gap between the two versions and give customers more choice. Initially, the brand had considered offering a Plus finish, but abandoned it at the last moment in order to simplify the choice to the extreme, but Citroën may have gone too far. Seeing how Citroën has solved this on the new C3 Aircross, it is likely that the brand could do the same on the new C3 in the coming weeks or months to offer customers more choice and a smoother move upmarket. encouraging customers to opt for a Pack Plus version that is cheaper than the Max, better equipped than the You and perhaps more profitable for Citroën.
