The Citroën Berlingo Van remains the undisputed leader of the small van market in the UK, according to the latest registration figures. With 4,870 units delivered across the country at the end of April, the Berlingo Van has led the segment since the beginning of the year. Its meteoric success with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has placed it at the top of small van sales in the UK since 2020, with an impressive total of 50,043 units sold. This puts it ahead of the Ford Transit Connect Van and Peugeot Partner Van in second and third place, with 46,317 and 43,036 sales respectively.
This success is no coincidence, but the result of a well thought-out strategy by Citroën, which has recently relaunched its range of vans, including the innovative Berlingo van, the Jumpy and the Jumper, all of which are now available to order. This new range offers more style, comfort and technology, while the electric versions have been extended, making Citroën the UK's largest supplier of electric commercial vehicles.
The new Citroën ë-Berlingo van, manufactured in Ellesmere Port, is a symbol of the brand's commitment to the transition to electric mobility. This plant, the first of its kind in the UK, is dedicated exclusively to the mass production of electric vehicles. From 2025, Luton will also see the limited production of the new ë-Jumpy, in parallel with the production of the internal combustion models. This will make Citroën, together with its sister brand Stellantis, the only volume manufacturer of light commercial vehicles in the UK.
Greg Taylor, Managing Director of Citroën UK, shares his enthusiasm: "The Berlingo Van continues to appeal to SMEs across the country. With the availability of an electric version and local production, we are renewing our commitment to SMEs by offering solutions for comfortable and practical transport. Our new van range embodies our desire to meet the specific needs of each user, supported by a network of Citroën dealers dedicated to their satisfaction.
In conclusion, the third generation Berlingo van has won numerous awards since its launch, awards that have translated into sales as it has been the best-selling small van in the UK since 2020, a title it has retained for the first four months of this year. The arrival of the redesigned version, which brings numerous improvements to the Berlingo Van's existing qualities, should allow it to retain this title for many more months, and hopefully years.
