Citroën has concluded a year of announcements in 2024, marked in particular by the launch of its first SUV-coupé, the Basalt. In 2025, the chevron brand keeps up its momentum with two new announcements for the Indian market: an extended warranty for its entire range and a slight price increase for the Basalt. These announcements demonstrate the brand's ambition to establish itself in this key market, while strengthening customer confidence.

Extended Warranty: a promise of trust to customers.

From January 2025, Citroën will offer a standard warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km on its entire range in India. However, electric models are excluded from this measure, for which the warranty conditions remain unchanged.

In a statement, Citroën said, "A testament to quality and reliability, the industry-leading warranty reflects Citroën's unwavering confidence in the superior quality and durability of its vehicles. Designed to take the worry out of unexpected expenses, it ensures a seamless ownership experience and saves customers money in the long run".

Shishir Mishra, Brand Director, Citroën India, added: "Citroën's mission has always been to provide Indian customers with vehicles that combine innovative design, comfort and reliability. By introducing a standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty, we are not only reaffirming our confidence in the quality of our products, but also enhancing the ownership experience for our valued Indian customers".

This strategy aims to strengthen Citroën's relationship with its growing Indian customer base, while meeting local needs without compromising its global standards.

The increase in the price of the Citroën Basalt has a limited impact on its competitiveness.

The year 2025 also starts with a moderate price increase for this model. Of the eight versions available, seven are subject to very small increases. Only the Plus version will remain unchanged.

Despite this increase, the Citroën Basalt remains the most affordable compact SUV coupé in its class. For example, its main competitor, the Tata Curvv, is priced between Rs 999,000 and Rs 1,749,000 (€11,310 - €19,870).

Powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, the Basalt continues to stand out for its versatility, with both naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions. The aspirated version delivers 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged version delivers 110 bhp and a maximum torque of 205 Nm. This performance, combined with a competitive price, makes the model even more attractive than its competitors.

In 2025, Citroën is asserting its ambitions on the Indian market by implementing strategic measures aimed at strengthening consumer confidence. The extension of the warranty to three years or 100,000 kilometres provides additional reassurance to buyers and reinforces the brand's image of reliability and quality. At the same time, the moderate price increase of the Basalt does not jeopardise its competitiveness in the SUV coupé segment, especially as it is offset by the extended warranty. Citroën is therefore well positioned to continue to gain ground in this booming market.
