Following the successful launches of the Berlingo and C4, Citroën continues its international expansion with the arrival of the new-generation C3 in Japan. Available from November 5, 2025, this iconic city car will be offered with a single powertrain: the 110 HP hybrid. A strategic choice for the brand, which aims to innovate and prioritize comfort to appeal to Japanese drivers, building on the success of its predecessor.
The Citroën C3 Hybrid Conquers Japan
The fourth-generation Citroën C3 is finally making its debut in Japan, two years after its global unveiling and over a year after its first deliveries in Europe. This launch marks a significant milestone for Citroën, which is looking to build on the legacy of the third generation, selling over 10,000 units since 2017. To prepare for its arrival, Citroën is running a pre-order campaign from October 5 to November 5, 2025, allowing customers to experience the model firsthand at authorized dealerships.
The new C3 Hybrid embodies the evolution of the B-segment, featuring a modern design, unmatched comfort, and a 48V mild hybrid powertrain. It succeeds a model celebrated for its unique style, vibrant colors, and playful interior, while introducing major improvements in comfort and environmental efficiency.

Two trims, one engine: what the Citroën C3 Hybrid offers in Japan
1. Two trim levels to suit every need
The Citroën C3 Hybrid will be available in two distinct versions, each offering a tailored driving experience and equipment level for Japanese customers:
Citroën C3 Plus Hybrid: The entry-level version, starting at 3,390,000 ¥ (approximately €22,000), focuses on essentials without compromising comfort. Standard features include Advanced Comfort seats, Progressive Hydraulic Cushions (PHC®), and 17-inch steel wheels with two-tone covers. Inside, the dashboard features blue accents and dark gray fabric, creating a serene yet dynamic atmosphere. Practical equipment includes a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a wireless smartphone charger, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Citroën C3 Max Hybrid: The premium trim, priced at 3,640,000 ¥ (approximately €23,700), adds sophistication with 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a two-tone roof, and light gray fabric and faux leather (TEP) seats. Unique silver details around the front seats and custom messages on the doors enhance the car’s playful French identity. This version also features color clips on the rear doors and roof bars branded with “CITROËN”, delivering a resolutely modern look.
2. A 110 HP Hybrid powertrain and four body colors
Under the hood, the C3 Hybrid features a 48V mild hybrid system, combining a 1.2L turbo petrol engine, a 15 kW electric motor, and a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). This powertrain, already proven in the C4 Hybrid, delivers 110 HP and 22.3 km/L fuel efficiency (WLTC cycle), ideal for smooth driving in both city and highway conditions.
Aesthetically, the C3 Hybrid is available in four body colors:
Monte Carlo Blue: A deep blue evoking Mediterranean sunshine and urban sophistication.
Bright Blue: A vibrant blue, symbolizing freshness and dynamism.
Elixir Red: A deep pearl red, both bold and elegant.
Banquise White: A pure, timeless white.
Each color can be paired with color clips for further customization, a hallmark of Citroën’s playful spirit.
Nearly two years after its global debut and over a year after its first deliveries in France, the new Citroën C3 Hybrid is finally arriving in Japan. Delayed by production challenges at the Trnava plant, this launch is a major milestone for the brand. With over 10,000 units sold of the previous generation, the C3 Hybrid faces high expectations but is well-equipped with its bold design, exemplary comfort, efficient hybrid powertrain, and competitive pricing.
The question remains: will Japanese drivers embrace this French city car, which blends audacious style, hybrid technology, and playful spirit? One thing is certain: Citroën is betting on this new generation to strengthen its foothold in the Japanese market while paving the way for future compact models within the Stellantis group.
