Citroën is continuing its expansion in South America, relying not only on the C-Cubed range of passenger cars, but also on its commercial vehicles. The Jumpy plays a key role. Assembled in Uruguay, this model, which has shown encouraging performance, has benefited from a strategic update with the introduction of a new diesel engine.
The Jumpy is doing well in South America.
The Citroën Jumpy is already a major player on the South American light commercial vehicle market. Produced as a kit in Uruguay, it has established itself thanks to its excellent value for money and its ability to adapt to the needs of professionals. In order to reinforce this momentum, Citroën is equipping the Jumpy with a new 2.2 turbodiesel diesel engine with 150 hp and 370 Nm of torque, which promises better performance and a significant reduction in operating costs.
A more efficient and economical 2.2 turbodiesel engine
The 2.2 turbodiesel engine makes its debut in the range with 150 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. Citroën claims that this engine is not only more economical, but also cleaner, thanks to an improvement in fuel consumption that reduces running costs.
This new engine, which offers 30 bhp more power and 23.2% more torque than its predecessor, significantly improves the car's performance. In terms of acceleration, the Jumpy goes from 60 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and from 80 to 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds, an average improvement of 2 seconds. These advances are accompanied by optimised fuel consumption: 12.4 km/l in the urban cycle and 13.7 km/l on the road, according to the Brazilian Vehicle Labelling Programme (PBEV). This represents a saving of 4.2% in the city and 15.1% on the road.
In addition to its mechanical performance, the Jumpy retains its traditional strengths: robust and comfortable monocoque architecture, independent suspension on all four wheels and a payload of up to 1.5 tonnes. Its compact dimensions (5.3 m in length, 6.1 m³ in volume and 1.97 m in height) allow it to manoeuvre with agility in urban environments. Finally, its 180-degree double rear door system and sliding side door make loading and unloading easy.
Versatility that adapts to all professional needs.
The Citroën Jumpy is characterised by its versatility. It can be configured as a 7+1 passenger vehicle, a 10+1 minibus, an ambulance, a refrigerated vehicle, a mobile workshop or even a camper van. "The model can be transformed and customised to suit any need or activity," says Citroën.
With these options, the Jumpy meets the requirements of a wide range of customers, from logistics companies to passenger transport services with specific needs. All this is backed up by a three-year warranty and a competitive introductory price: R$219,990 (€35,000) for the Cargo version and R$225,990 (€36,000) for the Vitré version.
With the launch of the new diesel engine for the Jumpy, Citroën is strengthening its position on the South American market. A strategic region for the brand, it benefits from a new range of vehicles aimed at both private and professional users. These technical developments, combined with an approach adapted to local needs, should enable the Jumpy to conquer new market segments and strengthen Citroën's presence in the region.
