The year 2024 was a difficult period for Citroën, marked by controversies surrounding the PureTech engines and the Takata airbag affair. These controversies fuelled a "Citroën bashing" that tarnished the brand's image. To get back on track and rebuild trust, the brand with the chevrons is launching a major initiative: "Citroën We Care". This new offer, which extends the warranty on new vehicles to up to 8 years, demonstrates Citroën's commitment to reassure its customers and guarantee unfailing reliability.
An extended warranty to reassure customers
Since 10 January 2025, Citroën has offered a unique service called "Citroën We Care", which covers the essential elements of the vehicle such as the engine, gearbox, transmission and powertrain. This cover, which can be activated as soon as the statutory or other manufacturer's warranty expires, offers customers unprecedented peace of mind. To renew this cover every year (for thermal models) or every two years (for electric vehicles), all you have to do is have your vehicle serviced in the Citroën network. The warranty can thus be extended up to 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first.
This new offer demonstrates Citroën's desire to maintain a relationship of trust with its customers by offering them long-term cover for the most sensitive elements of the vehicle. Indeed, extending the warranty beyond the statutory period demonstrates the brand's long-term commitment.
Demonstrating Citroën's confidence in its vehicles
The "Citroën We Care" initiative demonstrates the confidence of the chevron brand in the durability and reliability of its vehicles. Citroën hopes to regain the trust of consumers who may have had doubts following the difficulties encountered in 2024. By offering this extended warranty, the brand is also able to differentiate itself from some of its competitors who do not offer such comprehensive cover. Dacia, for example, which is often seen as a cheaper alternative, offers a shorter warranty, which is a real competitive advantage for Citroën.
This initiative allows the brand not only to reconcile with its existing customers, but also to attract new buyers who may have been reluctant in the light of recent controversies. Customers will benefit from a real guarantee of security, knowing that they will be looked after in the best possible conditions in the event of a major problem.
With "Citroën We Care", the brand is taking a decisive step to reassure its customers and gain a strategic advantage over the competition. This gesture symbolises Citroën's commitment to providing quality products and long-term support for its customers, while guaranteeing unrivalled peace of mind. In the face of competitors such as Dacia, whose warranty is less advantageous, Citroën is restoring confidence and proving that its models can be relied upon with complete confidence.
