A new chapter for Citroën’s SUV offensive in Ireland
Following a highly successful launch across major European markets, Citroën is taking the next strategic step in its international expansion. The French manufacturer is now extending the commercialization of its two flagship models, the new SUV C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross, to the Irish market. This launch comes at a time of profound renewal for the brand’s image and aims directly at consolidating and increasing sales volumes in a territory where demand for versatile family vehicles remains consistently high.
This expansion is carefully timed. By introducing these two models simultaneously, Citroën provides a tailored response to the needs of Irish motorists, ranging from a highly modular urban SUV to a comfortable and technologically advanced flagship. The arrival of these new vehicles on Irish roads underscores the manufacturer's ambition to establish itself as a key alternative to established segment players, relying on competitive pricing and a multi-energy offering perfectly suited to today’s ecological transition challenges.
The new Citroën C3 Aircross: versatility and accessibility from €27,790
The compact SUV segment welcomes a formidable competitor with the new C3 Aircross, which represents a complete revolution in its approach. Now based on the Stellantis Smart Car platform, this model stands out with a level of modularity rarely seen in its class, offering both 5 and 7-seater configurations. For the Irish market, Citroën has structured a very aggressive pricing strategy. The entry-level version, powered by a 100 hp Turbo petrol engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, starts at €27,790 for the 5-seater model. For families requiring more flexibility, the 7-seater variant is available from €28,990.
Beyond traditional internal combustion engines, electrification is a cornerstone of this lineup. The new Hybrid 136 powertrain, featuring an e-DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission, starts at €29,390 (5 seats) and €30,590 (7 seats). This 48V technology is an ideal compromise for those looking to reduce fuel consumption without the need for external charging. Finally, the all-electric ë-C3 Aircross, boasting a 400 km range, is positioned competitively starting at €28,452, including government incentives. In terms of equipment, the standard features are generous, including automatic air conditioning, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity, Citroën Advanced Comfort® suspension, and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera.
Citroën C5 Aircross: Premium comfort across three trims
Further up the range, the new Citroën C5 Aircross makes a grand entrance in Ireland, reaffirming its status as the benchmark for onboard well-being. The lineup is structured around three distinct trim levels: YOU, PLUS, and MAX. The YOU version, which serves as the entry point, offers all the essentials with a 13-inch touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, and diamond-cut alloy wheels. The PLUS trim adds an extra layer of comfort with a reversing camera, keyless entry and start, and Metropolitan Blue leather and fabric upholstery. The range-topping MAX trim transforms the SUV into a true lounge on wheels, featuring Matrix LED headlights, a 360-degree vision system, heated seats, and a head-up display.
Under the hood, the C5 Aircross focuses on energy diversity to appeal to Irish customers. The 145 hp Hybrid 48V technology, starting at €39,300, allows for electric driving in urban areas up to 50% of the time without plugging in. For those ready to go fully electric, the ë-C5 Aircross begins at €39,939 for the 210 hp version (73 kWh battery, 520 km range). A "Long Range" 230 hp version (97 kWh battery offering 680 km) is expected by the end of 2026. Finally, a new-generation Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), capable of over 100 km of electric range in the city, will join the lineup during 2026, providing a solution for every type of driver.
Record growth in the Irish market
The figures speak for themselves and confirm the brand's strong comeback. In the first two months of 2026, Citroën recorded a spectacular growth of 123% in the Irish market, with a total of 783 units registered. This performance has allowed the manufacturer to reach a 1.6% market share, a solid foundation that is set to expand further.
The simultaneous arrival of the new C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross in the Irish dealer network will be a major growth driver in the coming months. By precisely meeting the expectations of families looking for comfort, versatility, and cost control, Citroën now has all the assets required to win over a wider audience and continue its rapid ascent.
