Unveiled at the Rétromobile show, which coincides with a major exhibition dedicated to the brand's 70th anniversary, this unique coin pays tribute to a legendary car that embodies innovation and daring.

DS Automobiles and the Monnaie de Paris have entered into an exceptional partnership to mark the 70th anniversary of the Citroën DS, a car that has embodied automotive excellence since its launch in 1955. To mark the occasion, a €10 silver collector's coin has been created featuring two iconic models: the 1955 DS 19 and the 1975 DS 23. The coin's obverse, with its cleverly coloured gold finish, depicts a headlight beam, a nod to the technological innovation that made the DS famous. First unveiled at the World Money Fair in Berlin in January 2025, the coin is now available for purchase, with the first sale taking place at the DS stand at the Rétromobile show in Paris.
The story of the DS is one of technological and aesthetic revolution. Designed by Flaminio Bertoni, the car stands out for its avant-garde lines, its hydropneumatic suspension invented by Paul Magès and the ingenuity of its steering, clutch and braking systems. Visitors will be able to discover a DS 21 Pallas from 1969 and a DS N°8 from 2025, pitted against each other in a symbolic showdown. The DS N°8, which is being exhibited in France for the first time, is finished in an elegant Cristal Pearl colour with a two-tone black finish and features a Chestnut Brown nappa leather interior.
Rétromobile 2025 will also host a fascinating retrospective entitled "The DS, a work of art for 70 years", which will bring together a number of historic models. Among these, the famous DS "Ballons", conceived in 1959, will be highlighted by a faithful reconstruction carried out by GARAC. This visionary model, whose hydropneumatic suspension was symbolised by balloons, was ahead of its time and continues to reinforce the DS's status as a timeless icon. This exhibition highlights not only the importance of the DS in automotive history, but also its status as a work of art, as perceived by figures such as Roland Barthes.
