2023 was the year of electrification for the Citroën C3 in India, where from February it became the ë-C3, one of the first electric multi-purpose saloons on the Indian market, just six months after the presentation of the thermal versions. In 2024, it will be awarded the prestigious title of Sedan of the Year in India.
It is the magazine Autocar India which presents its awards for the cars of the year, making it one of the most important events in the Indian automotive industry, and which has just crowned the ëC3 as the sedan of the year, which is yet another reward for the small Citroën.
This award for the ëC3 allows Citroën India to declare in a press release: "Exciting news! Stellantis celebrates the Citroën Ë-C3 winning the prestigious Sedan of the Year award at the 2024 Autocar Awards. Autocar's esteemed judging panel found the Ë-C3 to be stylish, comfortable and practical in this highly competitive segment in India. Congratulations to the entire Citroën India team on this well-deserved achievement. By making history as the first OEM in India to launch an electric vehicle just six months after the launch of its internal combustion engine counterpart, Citroën continues to redefine automotive excellence. Let's move towards a cleaner, greener future!"
Thanks to its relatively early launch, the Citroën C3 electric car has been able to stand out from the fierce competition on the Indian market and become one of the very first electric multi-purpose saloons on the market. Launched in February, the new Citroën C3 has sold 683 units on the Indian market since July, which represents more than 30% of the total volume of the C3 in India, allowing Citroën to gain positions in this market segment that is expected to develop, even if the volume is obviously low. Undoubtedly, this new award will help to restore the visibility of the electric C3 in this huge market that is India, with, we hope, a notable impact on sales as the brand's network expands to cover more cities in India.
