Citroën is going electric in India in 2025. After signing several partnerships in 2024 to equip fleets with its electric C3, the French brand is starting strong with the arrival of its ë-C3 in Hyderabad, in partnership with the Refex Group. The latter has chosen the small Citroën to expand its sustainable mobility offer in the City of Pearls.
Refex Group chooses Citroën ë-C3 in Hyderabad
In early 2025, Refex Group took another step towards sustainable mobility by choosing the Citroën ë-C3 as the reference vehicle for its car-sharing programme in Hyderabad. This decision consolidates Refex Group's position as a pioneer of green transport in India.
"What a start to 2025! We are delighted to welcome Refex Group, one of our valued partners in green mobility, to Hyderabad. A key player and pioneer in sustainable transport, Refex has once again chosen the reliable Citroën eC3 for its operations in the City of Pearls," said Shishir Mishra, Head of Citroën Brand in India. With its spacious and comfortable interior, the Citroën eC3 is an ideal solution for car sharing. Shishir Mishra added, "Our strategic partnership underlines our shared commitment to provide innovative and environmentally friendly solutions for a better future. At Citroën, we are proud to support visionary organisations like Refex, whose development not only meets people's mobility needs, but also protects the environment".
By adding the ë-C3 to its fleet, the Refex Group aims to provide the people of Hyderabad with modern, comfortable and environmentally friendly transport solutions. This strategy will help improve air quality in a city facing pollution problems, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Rapid electrification in an Indian market that is not yet very competitive
Citroën has decided to move quickly in the Indian electrification market, a segment that is not yet very saturated. Although the brand is currently operating with limited volumes, it has managed to become one of the top 10 sellers in India. This performance is due in particular to the compactness, comfort and versatility of the Citroën C3.
Citroën's ambitions for 2025 could change the situation. Deliveries of the 7,000 ë-C3 units planned for 2024 as part of the partnerships signed should increase the brand's presence in car-sharing fleets and with professional customers. These volumes will allow Citroën to establish itself as a major player in the green mobility ecosystem in India.
The year 2025 promises to be a turning point for Citroën in India, with ever more assertive electric ambitions. The arrival of the ë-C3 in strategic cities such as Hyderabad paves the way for other projects, including the likely next electric version of the Basalt, which could strengthen its ecological portfolio in the coming months.
