Citroën Ami: Undisputed leader of electric quadricycles in France in 2024

The Citroën Ami 2025

Since its launch, the Citroën Ami has shaken up the automotive landscape by reinventing the concept of urban mobility. Compact, electric and accessible, it perfectly embodies the spirit of innovation that is unique to Citroën. In 2024, despite increased competition, the Ami remains the leader in electric quadricycle sales in France, demonstrating the enduring enthusiasm of consumers.

Clear dominance of the segment in 2024

With 9,197 registrations in 2024, the Citroën Ami is the undisputed benchmark for electric quadricycles. According to AAA-Data, it alone represents 58% of registrations in the segment, crushing the competition. Although its sales show a slight decrease of 4.6% compared to 2023, this decline is mainly explained by the remarkable arrival of the Fiat Topolino, a newcomer to the Stellantis group, which recorded 4,567 registrations. The group's strategy is impressive: it has established itself on a market previously dominated by historic manufacturers of unlicensed vehicles. In fact, Stellantis has captured 86% of the market with its two flagship models.

The other players are struggling to compete. Aixam, with its S10 model, has only 1,014 registrations, far behind the Ami and the Topolino. Ligier's figures are even more modest, with 439 units of its MyLi. In the highly specific segment of unregistered electric commercial vehicles, the Mega Multitruck stands out with 145 registrations.

A promising future thanks to the 2025 facelift

Although competition has intensified, particularly with the arrival of the Fiat Topolino, Citroën has already planned its response. In 2025, the Ami will benefit from a facelift, an essential development if it is to continue to appeal to a wide audience, from young drivers to city dwellers concerned about sustainable mobility. This facelift should enhance its appeal and allow it to consolidate its leadership.

Despite a 5% drop in sales, largely due to the novelty effect of the Fiat Topolino, the Citroën Ami maintains a comfortable lead. This success is based on several key assets: a recognisable design, urban manoeuvrability and an attractive commercial offer. The 2025 facelift will introduce a completely new style for the Ami, with a revised, reinforced but even more mischievous personality, while maintaining a competitive price positioning against new rivals such as the Mobilize Duo expected around the same time.

After four years on the market, Ami continues to prove that its concept meets a real need. Combining compactness, economy and eco-responsibility, it has created a unique identity that appeals to both young people and professionals looking for an innovative mobility solution. As competition intensifies with the arrival of new models, Citroën's little chip is preparing for the future. With a strategic facelift planned for 2025, Citroën intends to maintain its dominance in the electric quadricycle segment while consolidating its image as a pioneer in electric urban mobility. One thing is certain: Ami remains a true success story that never ceases to amaze.
