Citroën Ami Cargo: arrival at Portuguese airports

La Citroën Ami Cargo dans un aéroport au Portugal

The Citroën Ami Cargo, the practical version of the brand's small electric car, is now available at several European airports, including Lisbon. And this is just the beginning, as Ami Cargo will soon be available at other Portuguese airports such as Porto, Faro and Funchal, thanks to an agreement with Portway, a company specialising in airport services.

Portway selects Ami Cargo for its operations

As part of its environmental strategy, Portway has decided to strengthen its commitment to sustainability by adding 11 Ami Cargo and two Ami vehicles to its fleet. These vehicles are already in use at Lisbon Airport and will soon arrive at other major airports in the country.

These electric vehicles have been specially adapted to the needs of airport operations. Each Ami Cargo is equipped with a solar panel on the roof, which can power equipment such as a portable printer, smartphones and a torch, as well as three 220V AC sockets and two USB sockets. This innovation allows Portway to increase its efficiency while meeting its sustainability goals.

A small but effective change for airport work

The modifications made to the Citroën Ami Cargo mainly concern the addition of solar panels. As far as the engine is concerned, the vehicles retain their original configuration with an 8 hp (6 kW) electric motor and a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery offering a range of 75 kilometres. This choice allows Portway to provide short trips around airports while reducing emissions.

By equipping itself with these compact and versatile vehicles, Portway is demonstrating its desire to innovate and contribute to the energy transition in a sector where electric transport solutions are still underused.

In conclusion, Ami Cargo is once again proving that it can succeed where it is not expected. After its urban use, this incursion into Portuguese airports is further proof of this. By equipping the country's airport infrastructures, Ami is confirming that electric can meet different needs while supporting efforts towards a more sustainable future.
