Citroën Ami: another success in the first half of the year

Two Citroën Amis on the streets

Since its launch in 2020, the Citroën Ami continues to surprise us. In addition to its concept, style and qualities, the small city car has been a great success, confounding the negative predictions made about it. In 2024, despite increased competition, the Citroën Ami continues its success with a further increase in sales in the first half of the year.

How far will it go? After more than 50,000 units sold and high school car parks full of Citroën Amis, we can say that the brand's little chip is going from surprise to surprise with a success that continues year after year. Although it has been relatively unscathed in recent years, the Ami has seen competition intensify with the arrival of electric quadricycles, in particular the Fiat Topolino, which could put a damper on its wheels, but this is not the case and the first half of this year ends with further growth in sales for the Citroën Ami.

In Europe, sales of the Citroën Ami reached 7,861 units in the first six months of the year, an increase of 12%, with a leading position in France and Italy where it achieved a remarkable market share of almost 30% in the quadricycle segment for all engines. However, the success of the Citroën Ami goes beyond the borders of Europe, as Citroën sold 1,123 units of its little chip in the four North African markets, especially in Turkey, where it is very successful, with an increase of 8% compared to the same period last year.

A success that will continue

If the first half of 2024 was a success for the Citroën Ami, the second half should also be a success, as marketing continues to expand in Europe, such as in Germany, where orders have recently been opened and where the Ami has not been present since its launch. The marketing of Ami should also open up other markets in Europe, which will mechanically allow it to achieve greater sales volumes.

The second half of the year will also be marked by deliveries of the new Ami 2024, as Citroën has presented a new collection that marks the first aesthetic change for Ami, with a new Night Sepia colour that gives it an additional touch of elegance and, for a certain period of time, will allow customers to choose between two body colours, which has never been the case before. Citroën has also reduced its range by merging the Pop and Tonic versions to create the Citroën Ami Pep's, a more dynamic version of the Citroën Ami, which should also be a success.

In conclusion, the first half of the year ends with a new success for the Citroën Ami, with a further increase in sales, an increase that should continue as marketing expands to more countries, as is planned in Europe, but also outside Europe, as an arrival in Brazil has been confirmed. The change of colour and the new Pep's version should also help to give the Citroën Ami the momentum it needs to continue the incredible success it has enjoyed since its launch and which continues to grow. 2024 should be another year of success for the Citroën Ami, especially as it should end with a new surprise, as the brand's little chip has never stopped surprising us since its launch in 2020... you will know more in a few weeks' time.
