Stellantis: the Atessa plant produces large electric utility vehicles and recreational vehicles

Stellantis vans

Stellantis continues to strengthen its position in the electric commercial vehicle market by launching two new production lines at its Atessa plant in Italy. This strategic site, dedicated to the manufacturing of large vans for brands such as Citroën, FIAT Professional, Opel, Vauxhall, and Peugeot, marks a significant step in the electrification of Stellantis' commercial vehicle offerings. This commitment underscores Stellantis' determination to provide sustainable mobility solutions tailored to the needs of professionals.

The "Cargo Box" BEV: performance and efficiency for businesses

The kick-off of "Cargo Box" BEV production, the most efficient 100% electric light commercial vehicle on the market, represents a major breakthrough. This van, based on the electric chassis cab, offers impressive capacities with a cargo volume of up to 18.3 m³ and up to 20.5 m³ for the L4 configuration. Equipped with a motor delivering a maximum torque of 410 Nm and a power of 200 kW (270 hp), combined with a 110 kWh battery, it provides a range of up to 323 km. This offering is a concrete response to the challenges of electrifying professional fleets.

The enhancement of Stellantis' large electric van offerings is not limited to performance. A fast-charging option of 22 kW in alternating current is now available as standard, allowing a full charge in just six hours, half the time required with an 11 kW solution. This innovation significantly reduces downtime, thereby optimizing business productivity. Anne Abboud, Head of Stellantis Pro One division, emphasizes the importance of this advancement: "The launch of the large volume electric versions confirms the exceptional journey of this plant, which is committed to proactively and quickly meeting the expectations of our professional customers, according to high standards of quality, efficiency, and time-to-market. Stellantis Pro One's offering is unparalleled in terms of diversity and flexibility."

Stellantis CustomFit: customization at the core of professional needs

The Atessa plant, inaugurated in 1981 and having produced over 7.5 million units, stands out for its Stellantis CustomFit program. Approximately 50% of production is customized according to customer specifications directly at the factory, thereby ensuring high quality standards and optimized delivery times. Arnaud Leclerc, Global Head of Stellantis CustomFit, specifies: "The direct production capacity of our factories dedicated to the CustomFit activity is complemented and strengthened by a global network of 550 approved partners in constant contact with our official network, thus ensuring a very dense network of contact points." This program offers unprecedented flexibility, allowing vehicles to be adapted to the specific needs of each profession, from artisans to large fleets.

Stellantis, leader in the leisure vehicle market, turns to electric

In parallel with the development of professional commercial vehicles, Stellantis takes a new step with the launch of 100% electric versions dedicated to leisure vehicles. This initiative opens the way for more environmentally friendly travels, without compromising freedom and comfort. Stellantis Pro One has been the undisputed leader in this segment in Europe for years, holding a market share exceeding 50%. Arnaud Leclerc highlights the group's commitment to this market: "We have been evolving in this market segment since 2006, constantly innovating and continuously interacting with leisure vehicle manufacturers, to design with them the most practical and functional solutions."

The electric Ducato: the reimagined RV icon

Stellantis' commitment to the electrification of leisure vehicles is notably based on the success of its Ducato base, recognized for 17 consecutive years as the best motorhome base by the German magazine Promobil. With over 2 million motorhomes sold over the past 20 years and 75% of vehicles in the segment on the road built on a Ducato base, Stellantis possesses unparalleled expertise. The launch of the fully electric version of the Ducato for leisure vehicles meets a growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions in this sector. Arnaud Leclerc concludes optimistically: "We are ready to launch an electric range to meet the demands of our most attentive and demanding customers."
