Citroën upgrades its range in India

Citroën Basalt presented in India

It has been announced for several months now, and the presentation of the Basalt confirms it, as Citroën took advantage of the launch of its first SUV coupé on the Indian market to present its updated range with enriched and more modern equipment for the C3 and C3 Aircross.

This has been a criticism voiced by the Indian motoring press since the launch of the C3: the lack of equipment and the complete absence of certain features have been a major handicap for the C3 and the C3 Aircross, which will be launched in 2023. However, Citroën had already announced in January that it intended to remedy these shortcomings with an update of its range, originally scheduled for July and postponed by a few days to coincide with the presentation of the Basalt, itself postponed by a few months to adopt these modifications at launch.

The C3 and C3 Aircross will therefore be updated in August with a significant increase in standard equipment. From now on, for all versions, the basic equipment includes automatic air conditioning, LED headlights, electrically folding mirrors, the folding key, as well as the presence of six airbags and the relocation of the electric rear window controls, now located on the armrests and not on the central console as before. The customisable 7-inch instrument cluster, available on the C3 Aircross but not on the C3, is now available on the C3, which gains in comfort and modernity and repositions itself against competitors who have long offered this equipment.

It should also be noted that Citroën is bringing to India the rear-view mirrors currently offered in Latin America, including the indicators, which required a cover to be fitted on the wings of the C3 and C3 Aircross where the indicator was previously located.

In conclusion, Citroën has understood its mistakes and has rectified the situation by presenting its range at the same time as the Basalt, thus offering a coherent range on the Indian market. What a waste of time, unfortunately, to finally offer a range capable of facing the tough competition on this Indian market and which has inevitably cost Citroën many sales since its return in 2021. It remains to be seen whether the brand will not be too greedy with the price increase that its modernised range should undergo, prices that have not yet been presented.
