Citroën and toys: a century of history
Citroën's links with the world of toys go back a long way. As early as the 1920s, André Citroën, the founder of the brand, understood the importance of introducing young children to cars. He launched miniature models called "Jouets Citroën", faithful reproductions of the brand's models, to introduce children to the world of cars at an early age.
Among these creations, the "Citroënette" occupies a special place. This small car for children was a major innovation at the time, offering young children a fun and educational driving experience.
By including toys in this special edition, Citroën is continuing this tradition and creating a link between the generations. The toys offered with the Berlingo Toy Box Edition allow parents to share their passion for the brand with their children, thus ensuring the continuity of Citroën's heritage.
The Berlingo: a success story in Japan
Since its launch in Japan in October 2020, the Berlingo has established itself as Citroën's best-selling model in the country, accounting for almost half of the brand's sales. Its unique design, generous interior space and versatility make it the preferred choice for Japanese families.
The facelifted version of the Berlingo, which was launched in October 2024, has reinforced this popularity. With a modernised front end and the integration of the new Citroën logo, the vehicle has attracted an ever wider audience. In addition, unlike the European market, Japan continues to offer a diesel version of the Berlingo with the BlueHDi engine to meet the specific needs of Japanese consumers.
The Berlingo Toy Box Edition is part of this dynamic, offering an exclusive range that combines practicality, safety and fun for the whole family. By highlighting toys and a world of fun, Citroën emphasises that the Berlingo is first and foremost a family car, where young and old can find something to enjoy.
With the launch of the Berlingo Toy Box Edition, Citroën once again demonstrates its ability to innovate while remaining true to its heritage. By combining the worlds of cars and toys, the brand has created a unique offer that will delight Japanese families. This limited edition also underlines the importance of the Berlingo in the Citroën line-up in Japan, as a versatile vehicle that consumers appreciate. This initiative perfectly illustrates the brand's philosophy of combining comfort, innovation and fun for all.
