The newly unveiled Citroën C3 Aircross is already expanding its offerings to solidify its ambitions in the highly competitive family SUV segment. The French brand is going on the offensive by simultaneously opening orders for two highly anticipated versions: a 100% electric model with an extended range and an innovative 7-seater configuration for its petrol and hybrid powertrains. These strategic additions allow the C3 Aircross to present a complete lineup, ready to meet all the needs of modern families with a proposition focused on versatility, comfort, and a particularly aggressive price-to-performance ratio.
An extended-range electric version for enhanced versatility
Citroën is actively pursuing its mission to make electric mobility accessible to all. After launching the ë-C3 Aircross with a 44 kWh battery providing a respectable range of 306 km (WLTP cycle), the manufacturer is now taking a step further by introducing an "extended-range" version. This new model is equipped with a 54 kWh battery, boosting its range to approximately 400 km on a single charge. This significant increase in driving distance transforms the electric C3 Aircross into an even more versatile family vehicle, capable of handling daily commutes with complete peace of mind, as well as enabling weekend getaways or holidays without range anxiety.
True to Citroën's philosophy, this upgrade is offered at a reasonable price point. Starting at €29,400 (before any government incentives) for the "You" trim level, this extended-range version requires a premium of just €2,000 over the standard 306 km "comfort" version. This measured financial commitment gives buyers access to nearly 100 km of additional range, positioning the French SUV as a credible alternative to often more expensive competitors like the Honda e:NY1 (412 km) or the Kia Niro EV (460 km). By offering more freedom for a controlled cost, Citroën confirms its commitment to ensuring that electric mobility is not synonymous with financial sacrifice, but rather with a smart and pragmatic choice.
The anticipated arrival of the 7-Seater version: Dacia Jogger in its sights
The other major announcement is the opening of orders for the 7-seater configuration. Aware of the strong demand from large families for modular and affordable vehicles, Citroën has equipped its C3 Aircross with two additional seats that fold neatly into the boot floor. This option, priced very competitively at €850, is available on the 1.2 Turbo 100 hp petrol engine and, even more strategically, on the 145 hp Hybrid version.
With this offering, Citroën positions itself as a direct and formidable competitor to the Dacia Jogger, which has until now dominated this niche. The comparison is particularly flattering for the Citroën SUV. A C3 Aircross Hybrid 145 in the "Plus" trim with the 7-seater option is priced at €26,650 (€25,800 + €850). In contrast, the Dacia Jogger Hybrid 140 in its "Expression" trim starts at €26,300. For a minimal difference of only €350, the C3 Aircross offers a much richer standard equipment list. While the Jogger focuses on the essentials, the Citroën SUV includes automatic climate control, a large 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity, and a valuable reversing camera. This superior equipment, combined with a more assertive SUV design and the brand's renowned comfort, constitutes a powerful argument.
A complete lineup and aggressive pricing
With these new additions, the new C3 Aircross range stands out as one of the most comprehensive in its segment. It is structured around three trim levels (You, Plus, Max) and four powertrain options to cater to all uses and budgets.
Petrol: 1.2 Turbo 100 hp, available in 5 or 7-seater configurations (on Plus trim).
Mild-Hybrid: 1.2 Hybrid 145 hp ë-DCS6, available as a 5 or 7-seater.
Electric: "Comfort Range" 113 hp (44 kWh), 5-seater.
Electric: "Extended Range" 113 hp (54 kWh), 5-seater.
This aggressive pricing strategy, starting from €19,700 for the petrol version, allows the C3 Aircross to position itself advantageously against all its competitors, while offering technologies and features often reserved for higher segments.
By completing the lineup of its new C3 Aircross, Citroën has equipped itself with a major tool for market conquest. The arrival of the extended-range electric version removes the final barriers for families wishing to switch to all-electric without sacrificing versatility. Simultaneously, the introduction of a highly competitive 7-seater version directly challenges the Dacia Jogger by offering an alternative with a more appealing SUV look, superior ride comfort, and much more modern equipment for a virtually identical price. By combining accessibility, modularity, and relevant technology, the new Citroën C3 Aircross now has all the assets to become a commercial success and attract a broad audience, from brand enthusiasts to the most pragmatic buyers.
